Hi. :) You're fine. A "game only" recording from run start to finish is good enough, already, since videos have their own "timer".

Good. ^^ (DW, this is not about 555, it is about bullshit) Post your bullshit here, guys, come on. ^^

Too long didn't watch version for everyone: Pay attention when you enter the club through the skylight. If you do not get the "Sneak up on Jizzy" message, then keep holding your call, leave and re-enter the club.

If that call holding thing is new to you, you are supposed to hold it into the club and cancel it (after the cinematic, for example), so that you can kill Jizzy with the sniper rifle and RPG.

Cause of the softlock Short version: Unknown Long version: I have looked into that for 30min and did not find out why. Most likely, you would not have cared, anyway. It is just something that gets stuck. The trigger around the Skylight outside the club (that sets onmission=1 and is required to progress) did not get triggered, as evident by the lack of spawns, for example.

GermanyPatrick_8 years ago

Edit: Add all your bullshit here and maybe someone can make sense of it. I think I am going to build something here over the months. Feel free to skip the trivia.

555 We Tip

  1. [in the carpark] "You were spotted killing the Valet" Video Prevention: You have to let the valet drive a bit further than when the "kill him" text appears. Trivia:
I have solved it (thanks to SCRLog :)). The "Valet is in the car park" text was triggered by the Valet entering the car park. But you failed because the clothes (!) landed outside. It does not make sense that the location the clothes are put at make a difference, but that is how R¤ coded it - lazy fuckers. ;)
• [instantly after killing the Valet] "You are wanted" Bullshit: You can get a wanted level as soon as the Valet is dead (sensitivity_to_crime=1.0). Ergo, if you shoot your smg one bullet more after the Valet is dead and a cop is nearby, you are wanted and fail the mission. Prevention: Use a shotgun or pistol instead. Edit:
  • Reset got a WL when blowing him up with a missile, too.
  • I got a wanted level when I picked up the uniform (or right when I killed him?) after waiting until my wanted star vanished before entering the car park.

2a) [As the D.A. enters the parking space] Something blocks his way. He does not leave his car and the Valet enters it, failing the mission. Prevention: Make sure nothing blocks his way. Video More commonly, it is your car that blocks the way, so drive it away.

  1. [after parking the D.A. car in the garage] Getting a wanted level from stealing a car Bullshit: Cops can see through walls. There is a sidewalk nearby, so if a cop walks there he witnesses you stealing it. Prevention: Well, run instead. DansGame

    • [while driving the D.A.'s car] "Spotted wasting Valet" Bullshit: a Valet can "randomly" die Hypothesis: One valet drives the car you parked at the parking spot and runs over the other Potential prevention: Drive your vehicle out of the parking zone during the waiting time. If the valet enters it and gets stuck in front of his colleague, push him 90° so that he can drive of.
    • several killings Prevention: make sure that you keep dangers away in general, like confused bike cops driving on the parking location (Video)
  2. [When despawning traffic] A cop car spawning right in front of you, causing a crash -> wl. Intervention: You can try to bail before crashing, perhaps? Prevention: Try to drive in the middle of the road / on tracks / where no cars can spawn in general, it will save you quite some time. Also, try to learn from Reset's WR to despawn without car spawns right in front of you?

    • getting a wanted level in general This is not actually bullshit, but Prevention: make sure that no cop is in 14 meter radius as you do criminal stuff nobody cares about, normally. Also keep in mind that the trivial offenses like running people over can build up to a star.
  3. Some nice unsolvable 555 meme 8a) If the ZR Valet gets stuck driving to the car park, pull him out of the car (don't enter it if cops are nearby). He will take the next car to the car park, hopefully with more success. ^^

    • The D.A. never spawns Someone (I forgot who) thinks that this happens if a customer gets pissed and keeps driving around. I do not know the solution anymore. Most likely, you need to drive his car away. I suppose you should kill him, too (by entering from the passenger side holding sprint).
  4. As soon as a Valet gets stuck under a car, he dies. Fragile pieces of shit.

And another one from 100% - obsolete but for the sake of completion) - [while eating Pizza] Wasted a valet Interiors like to mess with AI coords. Demo video in Vigilante.

You most likely mean the Maverick fixed spawn on the heli pad.

The key is to approach from a certain height, not from below where the fixed spawn is. I do not know much about it.

More details on this, please:
Also helicopter in LV didn't respawn o.O
More than you could ever want to know about the starving mechanic: From Re: All Missions Guide
49 hours after the last meal, you start starving: at 48 hours, you get a warning message and nothing happens, the our after: If you have fat, you lose 2.5% per hour ( that's 70% of a "full rack" pizza ). After that, you lose 2% health per hour for 17h or so. After that, you lose 2.5% muscle per hour ( that's roughly 3 dumbbell repetitions or 6 seconds of max dumbbell training). Finally, you lose health again.

The timer is reset to 49h when getting wasted, saving, or gaining fat.

If you eat without gaining fat (=if all of the energy of the food is turned into health) , the hunger timer isn't reset, but extended by 6h but at least to 14h and at most to 49h
Remastered PC Version Comparison (compared to older PC versions ; listing only those differences relevant for the speedrun time)

That also links Blantas' doc that aims to be more thorough. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7veItDN5ALkQ3VmRXQyY0w1clE/view

I think that I might be going to use the remastered PC version for hundo races due to checkpoints saving time when the game crashes or I fail stuff. I do not know how bad the mouse aiming is since I do not have Win10 or 8.1 installed, yet.

Edit: Mission cleanup list size was wrong, I changed it from 50 to 75. [thanks, Nick]

Technical details on why this ghost town glitch works, not too important.

I have not verified it, it just sounds very plausible to me.

[5:23 PM] Patrick: This must be how Blood Bowl duping causes Ghost Town: The way the game gets rid of mission entities (vehicles, actors, objects) is that it adds them to the mission cleanup list. On mission failure, mission cleanup is executed, turning them all into traffic/random peds. However, only 75 entities have place on the list, therefore, the entities spawned from that point on are not added, they stay mission entities, and therefore do not despawn easily).

How do a bunch of mission vehicles cause ghosttown? There is a limit on how many cars/peds the game wants to spawn at a time. Unfortunately, I have forgotten the details.

Since they are not saved in savegames, they vanish on loading. [Unlike VC/III, according to Nick. He also gets the main credits since he has written facts and now I speculate on it.]

However, set_vehicle_density exists. Madd Dogg sets it to 2.0. Hence, you get traffic spawns in that mission.

How I verified that mission vehicles are not saved in savegames.
I removed 00D8: MISSION_HAS_FINISHED from Outrider and played that mission up until getting into the Washington. I then failed it. I verified that it is still a mission vehicle by 1) trying to despawn it after getting into a few more cars - it stayed 2) popping a tyre and parking it into the garage - it ignored it (evident by the tyre still being popped) - most likely because garages ignore mission vehicles.

Finally, I saved and reloaded. The vehicle was not saved, it was gone.
The Vigilante SSV 20 kills instapass:

  • It is probably slower
  • It is cancer to do fast
  • You have to do 10 SSV kills before that, else you cannot reach 100%.

I wanted to document it, anyway. ^^

  1. Hold Vigilante.
  2. Start GTAero.
  3. In GTAero, jump into the construction site marker.
  4. After the marker disappeared, start Vigilante.
  • The jump is important. Once Claude is in the trigger, the mission waits until you are not in mid-air, anymore. In that period, you have to start Vigilante. To be more precise, R¤ used the same command that is used to check if you can start a mission ("can_player_start_mission") for that.
  • You end up with an infinite fade (see screenshot), ergo:
  1. Suicide somehow.

Smix, I can probably answer your question once you have put in the effort to explain what you mean, precisely. :)

Regarding OM0 Big Smoke:

There is no known way to reach OM0 in Big Smoke. Fookin Rekt a.k.a 100 other names says that he remembers a video of someone obtaining that "Big Smoke" Perennial, involving OM0. My guess is that that person used the OM changer, not "legit" methods (which is fine but he should have made that clear if he has used it).

Getting a call is not the problem (you can get in debt). The problem is getting that call right before a setup mission (a mission like 8-track/Trucking) starts. That call only comes in when you are in "LV" (R¤ messed up but no area is at a setup mission). [Debt calls lock you out of completion in Bad Lands, anyway, since you cannot get any Bad Lands call if I got it right].

GermanyPatrick_8 years ago

E: TL;DR (this is rather technical, no need to bother with it unless you care about frames saved) Just wait until the cinematic cs starts (as soon as you can see anything from the cutscene, even during the fade from black to the cs), release shift and a bit later (0.5s) skip the cutscene. That delay is to account for the possible delay between dropping coming from the phone model loading.

The way I understand you, Flying, it is impossible to work: You say that you can drop the call in the little 500ms fade before the intro cinematic cutscene starts. 0.2 seconds after that fade started.

After that fade, the mission starts, setting om to 1 instantly, so the call has to set om=0 after that or it was in vain. So for your strat to work, there has to be a delay between releasing shift and the call thread setting om=0. According to your words, that delay has to be 500ms (fade time) minus 200ms (your timing).

That delay, as seen in the log, can only come from the phone model loading. You cannot rely on that, since the phone might already be loaded so that the load is skipped. Or the runner's hardware is not crap, or the model is cached in RAM, so it takes little time to load.

DINPUT8.dll is one of the few mods we allow. Be careful about mod recommendations, they might be banned. Allowed Mods/Fixes

To make extra mouse buttons work, rebinding them to a keyboard key using X-Mouse Button Control should work, I have not tested that.

PrettyGood strat! :) However, it is not tied to the no-timeloss pistol since you get less time until the Body Harvest call to despawn traffic hoping for a bike.

Some people might be able to "pause buffer skip" some dialog, though, obsoleting trying to get a pistol.

GermanyPatrick_8 years ago

Hm, why did I not double-post about the Demoman IP. Anyway, read that edit in my last post.

If you use the dead Cabmag instance from the instapass of said mission to dupe HtC, you have to skip the intro cs rapidly. Else, you get two cutscenes running simultanously with only one finishing (like when duping Bombs Away in the cutscene.

GermanyPatrick_8 years ago

Thank you. :)

I have put them into one collection, putting the duplicates into separate directories so that they don't bother me. ^^
