So i tried. I got 143 (however messed up 8-2, so 142 is definitely doable) So what is the lowest amount of a presses needed to beat smb? I tried with slowdowns and savestates ("tas") and i got 143 without clipping into objects. I might have screwed up my counting at one point, but can someone try and beat this amount of A presses needed to beat smb? Whats the definitve lowest a press amount needed to beat smb? (actually 141.5 a press is possible, since you can just hold the a button after you jump on the last hammer in bowser forever)
lol tipical of minimum jump? not bad idea as challege lmao Maybe I do it then
In all case, probably not a speedrun idea that moderators would be accept, so this is not the correct forum to send it F
"actually 141.5 a press is possible, since you can just hold the a button after you jump on the last hammer in bowser forever" When, you doesnt finish with the 142 completly, but "press" as name, you tecnicaly press it, so it count as a complete press I think
but overall it's not a bad idea and I could do this for fun......why else?
This could possibly be a category in category extensions once we find the minimum a press amount (like 142 a presses) Rules: Beat the game as fast as possible pressing A maximum of 142 times. So we could make a 150xA press category so you dont need perfection, however you still need to limit your a presses.
We aren't accepting new category extensions at this time.
I'm personally not a fan of the thought of having to go through someone's video and count how many times they press the A button. That's very tedious and mind-numbing.
It is an interesting idea for a challenge though.
Yeah, the main problema of this category would be to have to count all the time A is pressed in the run, and probably would be obligate to have a controller which appear all the imputs you do, so wouldnt posible for example with the oficial NES game
But not bad idea the challenge run
Ps: I continue without like to cant be added any run
Input display can be done with a NES, if you look at @Kosmic 's runs he has a input display on the top left corner
By the way, I do some proves in some time trying to sabe jumps, and I think the minimum needed to finish until 8-1 are 65 times that "A" have to be pressed, playing it with the logic and the order of any% Then have to be added the 8-2 , 8-3 and 8-4
I'm pretty sure he uses NintendoSpy, which is a program for the Input Display
Hey, you don’t need to put it on the leaderboards to run. You can run it unofficially.
Okay so i tried again. Improved alot. Improved every single segment of the game, went for wrong warp in 4-2 however it ended up the same a button clicks as no wrong warp. The final score is 116.5 clicks (117clicks in total). I dont think this is improvable by any possible way, ive spend 1 hour at 8-2 to get that 2xa button bullet bill glitch to work, needed to go back sometimes and that koopa wasnt helping at all. Human theory is 116.5 as of now, however, if clipping into blocks is possible, it may go lower. Sub 100 is not possible at this moment and probably never will be. GL on beating this. Used savestates.
I don't understand the .5? Either you pressed the A button or you didn't.
if you guys are gonna keep talking about this topic then go make a discord or something because, this is something not related to the leaderboards anymore
