Hey everyone, quite new to speedrunning vice city.
I've been running the game 'glitchless', but using the infinite sprint trick got me thinking if my runs are really glitchless...
Any thoughts?
I'm sure it is a glitch as R* didn't intend the player to infinitely sprint without having completed Paramedic level 12.
@kamiks it's not infinite anyway, only prolonged compared to holding the button.
@Sintay your runs will never truly be glitchless, that is imposssible in a game as old as this. There are too many glitches you will encounter on every run, and that is why we don't have a glitchless category. It's impossible to say for sure, but most people will consider the sprint trick to be a glitch as it's clear Rockstar didn't intend for you to be able to sprint that long.
That being said, you're allowed to use it in any official categories. Whether or not you want to include it in your glitchless runs is completely up to you.
Cheers for the input guys. I did a bunch of research by watching different categories and came to some conclusions.
Since glitchless doesn't really exist and it would be incredibly difficult and stupid to track whether somebody is holid or tapping the sprint key, I'll go with this system:
major glitches: duplicating missions etc.. (stuff that skips major parts of the game) medium glitches: going out of bounds, the "zip", om0 manipulation etc.. (clearly visible glitches but not as serious as major glitches) minor glitches: infinite sprint, phonecall sprint glitch (small exploits that don't change the nature of the game dramatically)
I'll say that a run that only includes minor glitches can be considered "Glitchless" for the sake of simplicity. So that's what I'll go with.
VC Enthusiasts, good news!
The VC Mod Team has decided to allow users to access a y-sens fix for mouse issues. This can be used legally in speedruns from today onwards, with only one rule.
