Good luck... but make sure to set realistic goals. This is a very tough game that is incredibly optimized, and takes hundreds of hours of practice and thousands of attempts to get even a sub-5 minute run on average.
Realistic goals are a good idea, and it's important to note that, yes Darpey is right, thousands of attempts and hundreds of hours of practice is accurate. Mindset is extremely important, because that's your true limit, what your mindset is. You just need to find something to motivate you (and pick a good motivator) and get a good mindset, and your golden.
You would have a good mindset if you don't worry about anything, and you practice, speedrun, that sort of thing for fun, and don't worry about anything else, you don't worry about how MUCH your improving, you don't worry about how others are doing, if others are bopping you, and you accept mistakes as a learning opportunity, and you accept failure as part of the success.
Remember why you started speedrunning*********
Also remember to keep your mindset good, no matter what situation you are in. If you feel like you haven't gone anywhere for days, if you feel like you have to practice one thing over and over and over and over but it doesn't feel like you are going anywhere, or you still suck at it. Stay disciplined, remember why you started speedrunning in the first place, and don't worry about how long it could take, because it will feel a helluva lot longer if you worry about how much you improving.
