I didn't do the second pipe jump but still managed to despawn the goomba. It likely is related to my failed fast accel at the beginning.
You still hopped on two of the 3 koopas and that's what despawned the third goomba.
@Mars02 but how did those 3 koopas appear if I stomped on the goomba after the second pipe jump?
@zsjetu9 I can't replicate what you did - maybe it IS because of the failed fast accel? Most of the time when I fall off the back lip of the second pipejump pipe (like you did) I fall in the magical death pixel between the second and third goomba... but when I do manage to kill the third goomba, I never despawn the goomba necessary to clear the pillar. IDK - must be the slowdown at the start?
i don't know the answer but i've also had this happen when fooling around in 8-1 from save states (and thus NOT arriving to that spot on the normal frame), so yeah i would guess it's related to the fast accel
It usually does affect those 3 koopas, but I'm wondering why it didn't here. If people could do this every time, then nobody would do the 2nd pipe jump.
