eddiecatgaming I can’t really time my PB perfectly because I only have a stopwatch in my phone to time it. But my fastest PB bun estimate, 9 minutes.
Don't let that be an excuse not to submit a run - get one up on the board, then you can start improving from it.
@Skitaculour - you can submit it without a timer, and the mods will time it, just make sure to get it from reset to axe... and get the whole screen on the recording (obviously)... then you'll get yourself up on the ol' leaderboard
That's what @tavenwebb2002 does - and he's currently 4th place.
I would not worry about not being able to time it perfectly. We retime all the runs anyway. I would recommend getting comfortable and consistent with the game first before worrying about the fancy party tricks.
@Skitaculour You can use livesplit (you can find it when clicking on "more" at the top of the screen next to the search bar, and click "resources", it'll be there. :) ) and when you right click on the window and click on "edit splits", you'll see the splits you can edit the name and time of. Above the splits and below the title and category sections it should say something like "starts at". It should say 0.00 automatically. Change the 0.00 to either -2.70, or -2.50. Then if you're using keyboard, you can press start on your game and livesplit at the same time. Only if you're on console though. You have to go to "settings" to change the settings because if you can only use one program at a time. The black screen when pressing start showing the level info. will last either 2.7 or 2.5 seconds, so you don't have to worry about pressing start on livesplit when 1-1 already started.
While we're at it I might as well welcome you to the community. Have fun speedrunning and we hope to see you get really good times on the leaderboards. Just so you know there's a category extensions page of smb1 too. A category extension is just a leaderboard for a game with many random categories and no "important" categories. But yeah welcome. :)
Oh yeah just want to let you know if a forum post hasn't been responded to within the past 3 - 5 days I'd say, don't respond to it. That would be called "necroing". Not mad just letting you know.
Any% (NTSC) runs below 4:57.000 must now fulfill additional requirements in order to be verified.
- The run's full session must be included in the submission description.
- For emulator runs below 4:57.000, some form of input display must be visible for the duration of the run. A hand-cam or input
