So I’ve just come back after a long break I find two new times at the top of the PAL leaderboard. I noticed they were done in the NES classic, and if you watch the runs it can be seen that it is not in fact the PAL version. It is NTSC. The giveaways are the music is slower than real PAL and that at the end of 4-1, the top player gets a 40 on the timer, when in real PAL you always get a 41 and receive a firework. I urge the mods to check this out and hopefully make a decision on how to run the leaderboard with the NES classic PAL version, which again, is not the real PAL version. Cheers
Just a quick addition, 8-2 is also not how PAL runs, he does the NTSC jump up the stairs which is not possible in PAL.
I’m gonna go again sorry, but 8-3 and 8-4 also show the classic signs of an NTSC run. He has to slow down to not get a 3 in 8-3, when if you go full speed in PAL, you always get a 4. And in 8-4 he does the first stair jump the NTSC way, which is not possible in PAL. It would be nice to see these times put off the PAL leaderboard as they are not intact PAL, but rather NTSC
Yeah that’s what I’m getting at, so change those times from PAL to NTSC, and for all future submissions on this platform. Surprised no one caught it to be honest
Hi, thanks for bringing this up. We're very aware of how to distinguish a PAL run from an NTSC run. The errors were likely an oversight or they forgot to change the region. It's an easy thing to miss and I've honestly made this mistake as well in the past.
I'll try to go back and fix those sometime today.
I will likely make a post for the runners as well as there seems to be some misunderstanding on what region they submit.
Good to know, not an expert on this subject, i just like to play. I am not here to compete against anyone but myself 😄
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
