i think you can as long as you dont use zoom, but you should prob check with the mods

There's a section in the rules for Optifine. They say:

OptiFine:

• No Zoom
• No Fast Math
• No Clear Water
• No Dynamic Lighting
• No Lazy Chunk Loading
• No Render Distance higher than the version you're playing on normally allows
