Out of interest, over an any% run of the same caliber, how much time does NTSC save over PAL? Plus would anyone be up to doing some reasearch on PAL to find some strats that may only be possible on PAL due to physics? Could make the runs more interesting.
Iirc the best pal run is 5:11. It's not ad optimized ad the ntsc runs though and does no "tricks" based on that I'd say pal loses about 11-12 seconds
Those to 5:11s are within reach for those in PAL, just might be good to find some new PAL only timesaves or something, TASsers... hint hint, for these runs
About the Physics part, you only need to do Two bumps in 4-2 for the wrong Warp to easily work. ;) On PAL Mario gets pushed to the right more than in NTSC
Yeah I knew about that one, easy timesave. But does anyone have a consistent setup for fpg or even full fpg I could try. I know full fpg is pretty much TAS only but could give both of them a shot, I know that JoshKeys does fpg in his 5m11, seems not bad to give a shot, except I’ll meed a setup
Full FPG is possible without L+R, but it's really hard. You have to release right for exactly 1 frame on a perfect frame that only comes every 4 frames, then you have to do sockfolder setup, but you can't actually do a full jump off the step, you have to do a jump that will get you to clip nice and good into the bottom block of the flagpole, and then you have to do this really difficult LRLR+A input as opposed to the LLLL+A input you would do in NTSC
DO IT B
Got a setup for the normal fpg as well? The one I see others doing relatively easily on PAL. Thanks for that btw, I had no idea it was THAT difficult
If you were to grind out practice on this tricc to get consistent, it may take a few months of consistent and constant grinding, and you might get consistent and then become a legend because you 4:54 on PAL wait wut I didn't say anything?
Normal FPG is half FPG, but uhh, the one where you finna grab that blocc and then walk to that castle, and it's an easy setup, is this
Sorry I don't have a more clear example, I wanted to use mPap's tutorial but I didn't find it on his channel. Basically you jump off the same block my TAS does, but off the 2ND pixel, make sure it's a full jump, then before you touch the ground make sure you're not holding B, hold right for like 5 frames and on the 5th you jump or something like that Also 8-2 BBG is possible in PAL, though it would still be slower than NTSC if you compared the 2 levels of 8-2 side by side of NTSC and PAL I believe
Thanks a lot, PAL can be a lot of fun sometimes. 4:54 here I come... in like 10 years time. Yeah I’ve seen Josh’s vids on PAL before, it seems he is the top of the tree when it comes to it, I’ll take some notes and get on it.
So I’ve just been messing about with the regular fpg, and your setup works beautifully. I would say the hardest part is getting the first jump off the stairs, but if you get that right, and believe me it’s pretty easy, the rest is almost free. There seems to be tonnes of leeway with the right walk and jump once your on the ground, or maybe it’s just me. I had no idea it would be so consistent. I don’t think I’ll be trying full fpg anytime soon but maybe, has anyone actually done it yet real time, and is there no other setup at all that we know of? Hey you never know I’ll give it a shot for a wee while.
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
