I would think so because it's an official release but don't run it until a moderator has approved it
if it isnt in the list of the rules, it isnt allowed, p sure tho it would be super cool lol, but yea that sounds very likely to work quite different to the original emulator in a variety of aspects to be accepted (i would bet it would be rather slower but yea)
We don't currently allow the Animal Crossing version of Super Mario Bros. for leaderboard submissions, primarily because that version of the game does not have any restrictions in place to disable pressing left and right simultaneously.
Maybe it could be a separate leaderboard or something.
it's the same game and like 2 people will run it. There's no point in adding it to the extensions
I'm sure there's some gecko code you could force players to use so left+right is disabled. I know barely anyone would run it, but I think it's a pretty funny idea and probably not very hard to moderate
To be honest you probably don't even need to use a gecko code. With how optimized and popular this game is, any use of L+R in a speedrun would get detected instantly.
Additionally, the NES emulator in Animal Crossing is one of, if not the most accurate NES emulator released by Nintendo to date. It's more accurate than the NES Classic and Switch Online versions, both of which are currently allowed. There's no excuse as to why the Animal Crossing version shouldn't be allowed.
