Recently, a mod called Sodium was released for Fabric users (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/sodium/) which increases framerates exponentially. In my testing, I found that I jumped from 10FPS on average to 60FPS. Others have reported jumps from 10 to 100, 90 to 400, etc. The screenshots on the mod page show 35 to 500.
Would this mod be allowed in speedruns? It does nothing to affect the gameplay, solely performance/rendering improvements.
Same as using optifine, if its only performance enhancing then it should be fine
The only reason I ask is because they explicitly say they don't allow mods EXCEPT OptiFine. I'm asking if this should be another exception.
Ah, I'm seeing at an outdated ruleset, they do allow Sodium and even made a guide for it: https://www.speedrun.com/mc/guide/fcr81
Thanks, mods!
yeah we changed the rules to allow sodium a few days ago and banned optifine for 1.16+ lol
How do we prove in our run that it is Sodium? Im using it at the moment but im not sure how to show in the video that it is not an illegal client.
There is a mod called "mod menu" and it is an accessibility mod. When you go to the main menu after downloading the mod, there is a new bar that you can click on. If you click on this, it shows a list of mods that are currently downloaded. This has yet to be implemented but this would potentially fix the problem.
I have a link to their page here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/modmenu
