You can join the MKWii Speedrunning Discord to see some discussion on it:
A lot of this has already been talked about and some solutions listed don't completely work. No video times can't have IGT for any reason, it's either remove them or keep the IGT space blank with it just being timed with RTA. I'd just like to say again on these same forums that Dolphin can't be used because it's too easy to cheat or completely fake a run. Last thing to mention is the IGT timing method being hard work to retime runs and your solution, I've mentioned a calculator being an easy solution and it would not be hard at all to retime current runs, just a little tedious. In fact, what I would do is do an RTA run and then add my times up later if I'm recording. Now retiming all the runs would be easier and quick but Jcool is basically the only moderator. Every other mod either doesn't care about the game, doesn't have a time, is extremely inactive or mostly all 3.
When a game is so old or is expensive to record it's hard to get your hands on anything required, they allow emulator with a decent amount of exceptions. I do know about the former SMB1 WR by i_o_l but I didn't know emu was allowed for some of the other Mario Kart games. Anyway as for the no video runs, I'm not talking about new no video runs, I'm talking about the other no video runs without any evidence at all. No picture, no times written down, just an RTA timed run that supposedly completed and has no splits.
The issue with that is we still have questions about some non-play time I calculated. Four runs on my spreadsheet have a 1:27 non-play time for Mushroom cup. These times are strong outliers and I still have no idea how they're that fast.
Until we can predict non-play time for all platform variations within a reasonable margin of error, I would suggest against converting RTA times to IGT.
I don't think we can just put a time to something without video and not knowing exactly how long each load is. If we just have video we can add up IGT for the main determining time and then also have the RTA timed run. Video proof should just always be required because MKWii has had the most cheaters I've ever seen for a single game. Also, MK8 and MK8DX don't have emu because there either wasn't even an emulator for it for quite awhile or an emulator doesn't exist for it yet.
OK, cool, we're on the same page about some of this, but what's up with trying to say it's even possible to make up some track times to make no video runs have IGT?
I'm pretty sure I remember you saying something along the lines of "if we calculate the not playing time we can fill in the splits with an estimate for IGT that will surely be off some way"
Twitch has recently announced that effective April 19, 2025, they will be imposing a 100-hour storage limit on Uploads and Highlights, and if surpassed, Twitch will automatically remove highlights/uploads to stay under the limit.
Going forward, all runs requiring video should be submitted with a vi
