I’ve been looking into Steg's CIS mission 11, No Traces, an extreme PSNK he gets a fast ending that can provide an advantage in speed. In almost a decade, I’ve never seen anything like this in MGSV or MGSV GROUND ZEROES. This is something that simply doesn’t happen within the normal scripted nature of the game, and everybody knows this. We don’t know if it’s specific to just CIS or other missions yet.
Is it fair to allow runs with this problem to be verified ? Let me explain. Maybe it’s best harmony to simply move the ILs with this issue to the extension glitch category? A few examples of why I think it’s a bad idea to have runs with this issue verified are that it has the potential to effectively hijack a WR and basically kill it from all future competition. Let’s say someone gets a pristine time on top of the fast loading technicality issue and is unaware of how to replicate it, nor is anyone else. No matter how much you challenge the time, even pulling it off much quicker from a technical standpoint, as there is a very specific time when you have to shoot on CIS PSNK for optimal speed, you simply can’t beat the time due to that specific loading issue. Also, we don’t know if this is a PC-only exclusive problem. I’ve also noticed those two runs end when Snake reaches the area point in which your iDroid usually warns you that you are leaving the Hot Zone when the mission is still active (objective not complete) which simply just shouldn’t happen. Very strange, but yeah, I’ve spent hours upon hours for the last few months trying to figure out just what happened, and I’m certain it doesn’t work on console. I don’t know, maybe it’s a mod conflict idk but I imagine everyone can at least agree it’s certainly a point worth mentioning at the very least.
it is surely a unique glitch and, to some extent, there are a lot of other aspects of the game that are not fully understood. like the soldier warps, or the pitch dark warp. should we make a separate category? don't think so. it's simply not worth it. to your point about it not being reproducible on console, it's just too bad. the console and pc version are two different beasts in so many aspects. 8th gen consoles can load more soldiers at once and from further away. also, if you're planning on running chapter 1 on console you're automatically in a disadvantage because the preorder bonusses from the definitive experience are available on 1.01 for the PC, but the console version of the definitive experience is on a newer version where glitches such as the chopper skip are not available.
tldr; console and pc are different and they should be treated as so. if you have a console record, it's a record even if someone else has a faster pc time. now if you want to try and compete with the pc record on console, or vise versa, good luck with that.
Separate categories ? No I just thought the category extension were specifically for ILs with glitches I’m still not sure what that extension category is for. I don’t think it is just another simple glitch, this isn't an issue concerning hardware advantages it’s an issue with the games loading function that doesn’t happen naturally on whatever pc you play MGSV. My point was is it ok for runs to gain an advantage just from the games ending loading faster after leaving hotzone than someone actually executing the run technically faster. Sometimes it’s perfectly normal for moderators to ban obscure issues in the interest of competitive fairness. I’m not making an issue out of this I just thought it was worth mentioning. Ah yes I suppose that is right an was a great addition back in the day separating PC & Console on leaderboards. But I’m fine as everything stands just hope everyone understood the point I was trying to make.
