Why optifine can be used before version 1.16 and after it it is prohibited?
In 1.16 Mojang revamped the nether and added some wonderful biome fog. Unfortunately for everyone in this community, Optifine decreases the level of fog that appears in the world... And thus was prohibited. Using Sodium is your next best option :) best of luck!
The nether actually already had fog before 1.16. Optifine kinda sucks actually and is really only allowed pre 1.15 because there aren't really any better alternatives Okayge
