Hint #2: I'd repost this in "The Site" forum with the same information. This kind of thing happens every once in a while, like here, for example:

Just let one of the super-mods know over in the "The Site" forum and they'll work with you on it.
I'm gonna be honest here for a sec- I have no idea how I got into speedrunning. I don't remember at all. Even looking back at my first submissions, I have no idea what inspired me to do them. Not a clue. It's weird.
Excellent! We could definitely use some more content creators out there. Pokemon's a pretty good one to talk about if you're into numbers; that entire game can be boiled down to random numbers and statistics.
Also, if you're into analytics, you might like this run by Winslinator: https://www.speedrun.com/run/z5o712jy
Welcome to the site!
Seconded. The most commonly asked question is the most difficult to answer because it depends on the person. I think it's like someone asking the community what his favorite color is. We can suggest our favorites, but saying that it's definitely ¤not¤ blue or whatever might keep that person from ever actually discovering his favorite color.
I never stream anything unless I've connected an ethernet cable. Wifi is convenient if you're just browsing web pages, but good old cables are far more reliable and generally faster.
As far as recording, there's nothing that isn't possible if you're creative enough. If you have to, just aim a video camera at the screen. No need for all this fancy software if your computer can't handle it. If speedrunning has taught me anything, it's that there are always multiple ways to approach a problem.
... and if any of us ever catches you ¤not¤ having fun, we will tie you down and force you to have fun... or something.
If you go around ¤expecting¤ people to stab you in the back, you're not really friends with them. That's kind of the whole point of "friends", ya know? You accept that someone will probably screw up and stab you the same way you'll probably screw up and stab someone else, and that's okay because we're people. But, yeah, that feature would be kinda nice here.
It looks like you can submit runs from those places, but it only appears as a link. SR apparently doesn't support direct viewing of videos from those sites yet.
I tested it out here: https://www.speedrun.com/run/y23v92wm
It sure would be nice to have an FAQ for this kind of thing.

If a game is being sold by Nintendo on a Virtual Console, then whenever someone downloads the game for free on a ROM site, Nintendo loses money. Additionally, if Nintendo ever ¤does¤ decide to release a Super Super NES or SNES reboot or whatever, they will lose sales because there are many people who might otherwise have purchased the game, but now won't because they have already experienced the game via pirated copies.
Nintendo is still selling these games; they were never abandoned: http://www.nintendo.com/games/virtual-console-games
But this isn't strictly a money issue, it's a rights issue. If you created something, then decided to stop selling it for a while for whatever reason, the fact that you decided to stop distributing it does not justify other people duplicating your stuff and distributing it to potential future buyers. If you purchase something, then you can mix and mess with your own personal copy for non-profit purposes, but you can't make copies and mass-distribute something if you don't own the rights to do so.
IMHO, making a Youtube account solely to upload a run video doesn't seem very suspicious, because you can't directly upload them here. I'd say the same for a newly created account here as well; it makes sense that someone would make a new account for the purpose of submitting a run. As for the hypercam, I'm pretty sure it's a screen recording software that leaves the watermark if you use the free version, and it looks like no sound is a pretty common issue for that particular software. I'm not very familiar with it, but it looks like unless you download the driver, it won't record sound.

The time is only a few seconds in front of yours, so it doesn't really stick out to me as suspicious. I think it's perfectly reasonable to think that this run was practiced over and over, and only the best was submitted. However, if the sound is a problem, I would direct Rho to the site above to download the driver.
Emulation itself is not illegal, but pirating copyrighted material is. From what I can tell, Nintendo has ¤never¤ released an official emulator for any of their old systems outside of the Wii Virtual Console and I think there might be one for 3DS. I'm not really a Nintendo person myself, but my point is that any run that claims to be done on an emulator of a game that isn't on Nintendo's official list is a pirated copy and should be removed from this site.
That's interesting, actually. I would have thought obtaining a copy of something you already purchased would be within your rights, but it looks like it's not. From what I can tell, it looks like all games played on an emulator- at least for Nintendo- are done so illegally, because they haven't released any of the rights to any of their games, nor have they built or released any ported versions for emulators. If that is the case, then shouldn't runs for Nintendo games played on an emulator be banned from this site?
As a random example, about half of the runs done for the Pokemon Red/Blue Any% claim to be done on a GBA emulator, but according to Nintendo, these are all done with illegal, pirated software. Furthermore, according to the information in that link, it seems that this kind of thing can have serious consequences on the site as a whole, because "(websites) can be held liable for copyright and trademark violations, regardless of whether the illegal software and/or devices are on their site or whether they are linking to the sites where the illegal items are found."
I suppose the other side of this coin is that banning runs done on emulators creates a paywall for submitting legal runs, because in order to qualify to submit a run, you must purchase the game and system. Then again, in order to be an olympic swimmer, you have to purchase a swimsuit, so that's not really a great argument. The fact that it has been this way for a while doesn't change the fact that it is wrong. Honestly, all things considered, I think that banning emulator runs for Nintendo games is the lesser of these two evils. I know nobody has challenged this yet, but I think it needs to be. This is a much bigger issue than it first seems, and if this site has runs that are openly admitting to being done on pirated software, that is just a hair shy of supporting piracy. IMHO.
Is that the game where it's basically a loading screen that says "LOADING...", but when the progress bar gets to the end, the game is over, like the loading screen progress bar ¤was¤ the game? I've heard there's something out there like that, but I've never seen it..
After all these years of teasing us, it really ¤was¤ the Final Fantasy....
Hey guys! Sorry for the late post. This is a problem that a ¤lot¤ of games on this site have. It is more often that someone discovers a game breaking glitch that nullifies runs done otherwise perfectly, but you can see the correlation here. In general, whenever a community feels conflicted about different approaches to a run, the answer is usually splitting into sub-categories, for instance "Glitchless" for runs that don't use the trick and "Any %" for those that do. If we ban fast clicking altogether, I think we might lose a lot of potential free rice, and isn't that the real goal in the end?
One of the things I love about the speedrunning community is that finding unique approaches to problems and doing things your own way is encouraged. There are as many different kinds of ways to approach runs as there are runners, and it is in the spirit of the community to treat them all equally. This situation in particular is unique in that "fast-clicking" is not very well defined. Rather than looking at it from that perspective, I propose splitting the runs into "No Mistakes Made / Perfect" runs and "Fastest time possible" runs. It is a black-and-white definition, and it addresses the situation where someone fast clicks ¤AND¤ is perfect. I've done several runs- most of which were terrible (I think 4th is the best spot I've gotten here)- and I think doing this both quickly and perfectly should be applauded.
The compromise does two things: First, it gives equal opportunity to advance through the leaderboard to members on both sides of the schism. Second, it allows the people who innovated the fast-click method to keep their spot without discouraging others that might have also discovered this little loophole.
