Only took about 16 months longer than it should have but good prevailed over evil in the end.

I have also been wondering this. The community has been growing at an unprecedented rate since the inception of ESWTBBWC in 2020. World records have been tumbling, not to mention the discovery of the absolutely jaw dropping snaking technique on water levels and other shortcuts in the lead-up to ESWTBBWC 2021.

An announcement for ESWTBBWC 2022 would reinvigorate the community and we're likely to see more records, more new discoveries. A potential tie-in with the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in February? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Last year we had Ed Magnin grace us with his presence, maybe this year Tommy Tallarico could be on the cards? I've long wondered what his inspirations were for the unparalleled score he composed for this legendary game and it was surely foundational in what he went on to achieve later in his career. Having the master himself remix some of his own work for ESWTBBWC 2022 would make my dreams come true.

Go Bears!

As a mod it is incredibly stressful having somebody just randomly and haphazardly approving cheated/invalid runs with no regard whatsoever for the established rules for submissions. If you don't even understand the rules to the game, haven't played the game for over 2 years and have absolutely no interest in engaging with the community, why on earth do you continue to moderate it?

The community universally rejects you and your continued involvement (which at this point only comprises approving runs you don't even watch first).

Do the right thing.

Resign.

Nah, he good. He actually knows what the rules are unlike flash who just approves rule breaking and incorrectly submitted runs regularly. That's the first place I'd be shining a spotlight if I were you and had any awareness of the current state of bear game and where mistakes are being made.

Who tf are you exactly? They were mostly vacant categories and are not even good times that he put more than one attempt into. Other mods are capable of looking at his submissions and rejecting them afterwards if he has broken any rules or the times were in any way impressive enough to warrant this. He has not and they are not respectively.

It has been well over a year since I made that post. PMYA already added the new categories after becoming moderator.

In light of what has happened today I am starting to doubt you have the requisite credentials to fulfil your duties as moderator of this game. You approve runs with clear exploits and cheats you would be aware of if you kept up to date with the community. The bears community conducts the majority of its business of the associated discord server where these kinds of things are discussed in depth and you really need to actually be in the server at minimum to have any sort of connection to the community let alone leadership of it or ability to verify runs.

As you may or may not be aware, there is currently a World Championship being organised by vandweller that will take place on February 20 and you have not indicated any interest in this whatsoever. This is a huge milestone for this community and it's a little upsetting to say the least that you aren't wanting to get involved. The increased activity of late is all due to the upcoming World Championship which will bring increased scrutiny to this game on speedrun.com and maintaining the integrity of the leaderboard (as it is being used to verify qualifications for the World Championship) is paramount at this pivotal moment in Bears history.

I sincerely hope you will be making some effort in the near future to engage with the Bears community you have moderated over for several years but increasingly it seems errors are being made, you are taking for granted your position and several members of the community are starting to question your continued place within it.

The moderators have a responsibility to this game and it simply isn't being met. The community has more enthusiasm for this game than the people charged with leading it. More mods need to be added for this game to be taken seriously and get the respect it deserves. This is just not good enough.

The delay is literally killing the community. Bears is taking off right now, it was recently featured in a live tournament on twitch with over a 200 viewer average. Interest in the bears has since skyrocketed and will only continue to do so when the youtube video and hall of champions are updated to include everybody's favourite little bears. The addition of new accessible speedrun categories will help to ease the transition from it being an obscure and elite level speedrunning game requiring full level championship runs using additional software to time splits. The proposed changes to include in-game times and individual level splits/time trials will go a long way towards attracting new players and further growing Extreme Sports with the Berenstain Bears and its legitimacy within the speedrunning community.

Yes I agree, all of the time trial courses are different to the championship courses and there are 2 completely separate and more difficult disciplines (raft and toboggan) available only in time trial. As it is there is no incentive to use tricks in game also as they don't make you go any faster but freeze the in-game clock (effectively how it was designed to be played). Having tricks and trickless categories would go a long way to getting the full potential from this game. Also using in game time would make it easier to moderate I believe for the individual time trial levels.
