I only know as much as I’ve been told about the process from friends. I’ve commissioned out to people who build mine so I have no experience on building them, only using them.
The Arduino might not be required if you use a USB adapter like that, but I’d be iffy on the quality of the split. When done properly this won’t result in any input lag, and idk if that would change if you go straight through the USB adapter.
So yeah, if you’re looking to build your own I unfortunately can’t help much on that since I’m not super knowledgeable on the gritty internals of building one; I just know the basics of the process.
I’m not sure what you mean by “takes requests”. If you go to TAS videos and start asking people to create TAS runs of games they probably won’t be very receptive. TASing is incredibly time consuming and for longer games it can take a very long time to create the TAS. Most people TAS a game they love because of the commitment required, nobody creates them on request.
Pretty sure there’s a link in the OOT discord. Or at least there used to be.
Join that (you should be there anyway, it’s helpful and full of resources).
I vote yes. We already do that for the minigames and these ILs are similar to that in a sense.
There are numerous programs that can capture inputs from controllers connected via USB. I know there’s one popular one but my brain isn’t working so I can’t think of the name. There’s also one that people use with PS4 controllers (Gamepad something or another I think) because they can use the PS4 controller over Bluetooth.
It’s easier to do it with USB connected controllers because the buttons usually end up mapped to keys anyway. If I remember the program I see people use I’ll edit it into here.
gv-usb2. Best SD cap card and only $40 USD. The driver install is in Japanese but it’s literally only 2 clicks and there are tons of online guides.
I’d also look into getting a powered splitter so you can play off your TV while you capture the video into OBS. Good luck and happy running.
Idk if a button on a controller splits for darbian, but I think he uses a foot pedal to split.
As for input displays, the gist of it is that you split the signal from the controller and send it to both the console and your computer via USB. It’s usually done by taking a controller extension cable and splitting the wires. One set goes to the end of the extension cable like normal and the other set goes to something like an Arduino where the signal can be sent over USB. Software called NintendoSpy runs on your computer and accepts the signals from the USB cable and displays them based on a button mapping and selected skin (graphics).
The resources and software available is primarily for Nintendo consoles from NES to GCN. I don’t know of any input displays for other consoles from like Sony or Sega, but I haven’t looked a lot so they might be out there using similar software and setup.
It’s not hard to setup if you commission it out to someone to build. The hard part is building one yourself if you’re not familiar with electronics and whatnot.

Close only counts in horseshoes.
Don’t belive in “rust” or that taking breaks is bad.
Often times speedrunners talk about being rusty at a game because they haven’t run it in a while. They make it sound like it’s horrible to take breaks from grinding attempts because it’ll make you lose your skill at a game. That’s not true and don’t take it at face value. Sure, after a break it might take you a bit of practice over a couple days to get back into the swing of things, but it’s never as bad as you might believe and sometimes a break from a game let’s people come back and crush their goals. You’ll always have that skill.
Plus, taking some breaks can be healthy mentally so you don’t burn yourself out and start to hate a game or this hobby.
For what it’s worth it’s not stupid lol. People have been bitten by PAL or bad emulation before without realizing it. You’re not the first to have it happen nor will you be the last.
Admins have control over most day to day operations on the site. Handling game requests, mod requests, development if they have code access, etc.
Full Mods have site wide moderation. They can handle bot cleanup, handle LB moderation issues, etc. If you're ROMaster, you also have code access.
Content Mods are new and it looks like right now they'll handle content related things like making sure games and their themes, categories, etc. are kept up to standard. This will probably change as they get more responsibilities and are around longer.
This is best asked in the game's forums or in their discord.
But in general, for any game, follow the rules exactly what they say. The rules are probably set up that way for a reason.
...that didn’t answer my question.
What does “a guide” mean to you?
Do you want to know the route? (I posted it up above and you can watch a run for that). Do you want to know strats for temples/bosses? (Use a NMG tutorial, the strats will be the same in MS aside from knowing when to S+Q).
etc.
What are you looking for in a guide specifically? I don't know how many in depth guides exist for MS runs (in either this or original ALTTP) because it's such a short, simple category.
Escape -> Eastern -> Desert -> Hera -> MS with some saving and quitting in between to eliminate some travel time.
One last thing to add on this icon weirdness - on some games, moderator icons aren't even showing up at all for some users. No flags or donation icons either, just nothing:
Along those same lines (not sure if this was an intended feature) - icons no longer show up next to threads when looking at a forum page. For example, I just see Gyoo’s name as the person who started a thread, but without seeing the full mod symbol next to it. Same goes for all moderators of games, you no longer see the sword.
Note though that this is on mobile. I haven’t had a chance to hop on desktop today to see if this is there too.
EDIT: Checked on Desktop, Firefox and Firefox-like browsers have no logos. Lonne down below has a picture of it in case I couldn't explain it well lol
