Also why would you put this in the Speedrunning section?

Is this a question about a specific game? You’re talking about invalidating runs but I’m having a hard time visualizing what game you’re talking about.

It sounds like you need to contact the mods of the game in question to find out what their rules are regarding a single virtualized environment for players doing a run together for a multiplayer game.

You need to contact the mods of the game and follow all of their requirements for adding categories.

This isn’t a website for finding casual players, this is a speedrunning website.

Hi, Software Architect here. A few weeks ago my company encountered an issue with Chrome where all of a sudden opening a dropdown - every time our clients would open any dropdown regardless of list size - it would overload their CPU and crash Chrome. We eventually tracked down an issue where certain versions of Chrome around version 88/89 seemed to conflict with something in Bootstrap that caused the issue. The issue existed in Chromium so any Chromium based browsers had the issue (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge for example). After examining nightly builds of Chrome and using version 91, the issue was gone.

Our leading theory is that Bootstrap and Chromium had a conflict somewhere around Chrome 89 and we had to manually set something in our application’s CSS to resolve the issue in older versions of Chrome. If I remember correctly, this site uses Bootstrap and if your version of Chrome is slightly out of date, you could be experiencing that same issue.

I would first recommend updating Chrome to the latest stable version, and if the problem persists I would try a non-Chromium based browser like Firefox. If my memory serves, Chrome 91 is slated for release in May, and Chrome 90 comes out this month if it’s not already out. So assuming Chrome didn’t mess up their build since the last nightly build of 91, the issue should eventually fix itself by by next month the latest (it might be fixed now if Chrome 90 is out). Or of course if someone on this site’s development feels like changing their CSS to try and manually resolve the issue with Bootstrap, that would also fix it. And no, I don’t remember the CSS we had to tweak to fix this off the top of my head.

Also, as a fun tangent, the issue didn’t happen for everyone on Chrome 88/89 so it could of also included specific hardware components, Bootstrap and Chromium all screwing up together.

TLDR: Try and update Chrome to the latest version and use Firefox as a last resort. Chrome 91 should fix the issue if Chrome 90 doesn’t.

This has been mentioned before and it's essentially been rejected because that feature already exists on the sites where the runs are hosted. The site would essentially be rebuilding a feature that already exists on YouTube, so it would essentially be a redundant data gathering feature that wouldn't have any real benefit or value on this site.

This website does not host any videos, all videos are hosted on other sites like YouTube or Twitch and are simply embedded via links/URLs.

So, no, you cannot do that, this site doesn't not support that nor will it probably ever support that (because how would it know when to download a run from any other stream).

What are you asking? Are you asking how to submit a run? In order to submit a run you go to the LB for the game you’re running and you hit the “Submit Run” button. In the video link field you can post your link to your run on YouTube.

YouTube links also auto embed on the site in forums and guides so if you’re asking about that, just posting the link will auto embed it for you.

I’d be okay with the compromise of letting them have access to the logistics on the board without having the ability to reject or verify runs. I’ll just go back to the Zelda example of the fact that a series mod tends to be a ZeldaSpeedruns Admin but not a single one of them has any experience moderating every game, so there is no way the underlying communities would want them intervening in the verification of runs they know nothing about.

This may not apply to every series, but for series with a lot of games and sub communities, you’re probably going to see similar things to this scenario where series mods are essentially overarching community admins rather than the people who mod the most individual games.

@Garsh I see #1 and #5 as bad ideas. Allowing Series mods to mod games within the series isn't a good idea because then they could end up moderating games they have no idea about. Series moderator should be able to add mods to the games within the series', but they shouldn't be able to moderate the underlying games themselves. So, a series mod shouldn't be able to moderate all games automatically nor should they have the ability to add themselves to the series, even if they moderate a percentage of the games (unless maybe it's 100%).

For example, a series like Zelda is large and has a multitude of different games within it. A series moderator is unlikely to understand how to moderate every game within the series; it's not feasible for someone to understand all of the different Zelda games at a level needed for a moderator. So, they shouldn't be able to moderator the games within the series automatically, they would still need to be added to the individual games they can moderate. I'd go a step farther to say that a series mod shouldn't be able to add themselves to a game, another mod should have to do it for them.

I retime Twitch VODs the same way I retime every and any VOD - I download the video using youtube-dl and then I open the video in Sony Vegas and frame-count it. I’ve never used an online tool for any retiming, I do it manually to make sure I’m accurate with it.

I’ve never had an incomplete video download when using youtube-dl (I used Twitch Leecher before that and also didn’t have an issue).

Ask the mods of any games you want to run what rules they have regarding emulation. All communities and games handle emulation differently.

No, this is a terrible way to get mods for a game. Ask trustworthy members of the community for the game to moderate if you need help. Never ask or mod random people who don’t run the game.

EDIT: I looked at the game and you’re literally the only runner. What do you need help moderating the board for? Are you experiencing an influx of more runs than you can handle? It doesn’t look like there is any activity on the board that would imply a need for more mods right now.

You need to ask the mods of the game in question what they consider to be "good enough" proof.

As an aside, idk what software you're using to record runs but I would recommend switching to OBS which is the defacto standard of recording right now.
