In addition to the googledoc above: depending on if you only have one or more consoles you might want to capture having a composite switch in addition to a splitter might be a great investment. I currently have my Wii and Gamecube plugged into a switch, so I only have to press one button to set them up, instead of messing with cables everytime. Of course that will require an additional cable to connect the switch to your splitter.

I actually don't use Amarec at all currently and just set everything to the correct settings in the source in OBS, although that does lose me the ability to capture PAL50 (which my gamecube boots up in, I select 60hz mode when starting the game I want to play) it might be an option if you encounter problems with Amarec at some point.

Seedot gets Naturepower, I don't see any STAB for Nuzleaf and have no clue if there even is an easy leaf stone to grab.

Favorite run as in particular category or one specific single run? I don't really have a global favorite category, but for single favorite run I'd have to vote for Werster's Fire Red Round 2 run at AQGD 2013's bonus stream: I remember watching it live and I've watched it multiple times since then. I don't think I've seen a run anywhere with that same atmosphere.

this forum used to use full BBCode as seen here https://www.speedrun.com/post/iftju although the switch to Markdown is in progress currently, so stuff like [b] will already get converted to two * (can't get it to display two, because it thinks I'm trying to display literal nothingness in ítalics) and so on.

[quote]Favicons should change that image, but haven't worked for months years.[/quote] As far as I'm aware browsers often cache favicons for the entire sub-domain and they only update very inconsistently even if you add something like ?v=[timestamp of the last time the file changed] to the url, which usually causes browsers to discard previous cached versions (very useful for external stylesheets, which also often just get read from cache without double checking). Due to that the functionality got removed, likely to avoid confusion. I do however still think that the ui could implement those icons in places like next to the game name on profiles or maybe in the Games menu in the header/navigation of the site, so they aren't completely useless outside of the settings for 'Followed games'.

EDIT: just noticed I forgot to mention that I'm trying to explain why they are disabled, oops.

@Oxknifer the timestamp above the text, right from the name field, has the permalink to any post. Rightclick that -> Copy Link Adress and there you go.

such a bug is news to me, I've never had any problems loading big image files on any other site, including the ones I've made myself. I did some digging around and had the background picture appear once I had opened the theme.php in the sources panel and then closed the devtools. The only anomaly I've noticed connected to that file is that the <link> element uses & instead of just &, but chrome seems to translate that around correctly as soon as I opened that link in a new tab https://i.imgur.com/fdhxy76.png

https://i.imgur.com/8D5ZQZv.png both of those links show an error 404 for me (Chrome Version 69.0.3497.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)) but the page still loads properly (other than that I had to F5 an extra time for the background picture as usual, which btw is still a thing, idk if anyone ever checked on why it happens)

DeSmuME is for NDS games, Fire Emblem Awakening is for 3DS, which afaik does not have accurate emulation as of yet

My current games list is literally a "find the outlier" minigame: Love Live! School idol Festival!, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage, Hexcells Infinite. Tomorrow I might start a local coop Stardew Valley savegame again tho and I've been trying to find the time to start any of the racing games I already have on steam.

YouTube's player is kind of weird when it comes to rounding the video length, so I'd be careful using the videolength as proof for that. Depending on what software you are using to edit adding a little timer to the video already helps with that a lot. I only know Sony Vegas sadly, but that has a timer effect that you can attach either to the full video of the run or you add a blank single color (with 100% transparency) object to a timeline above and add the timer to that, which gives you the option of using keyframe animation to move the timer around or scale it down if it's too large for your liking.

if you're going to grab a gv-usb2 and import it from somewhere in asia anyways make sure you pick a japanese seller. That's where the product was originally sold and I have good records on getting my money back should something get lost in shipping. The one time I didn't get my money back they actually send a 2nd product that did arrive. If you have the patience I can also recommend waiting 2 weeks to a month longer for the package to arrive, even if the website you bought it on says it should arrive by then and then. I'm not sure about american sellers as I only ever bought used games from friends over there, but the gv-usb2 has been listen on their amazon for a while and most of what they sell there does also ship to many countries in europe, so it might be worth a try as well.

I used to specificaly listen to trance because I heard it helped, but at some point I got bored and after noticing that I don't have a specific time in the day to listen to music anymore, I just kinda listen to whatever music I'm in the mood for while working on things and honestly I'm still producing the same amount of messy but somehow working spaghetti code

@oddtom I actually refered to the english version for some questions to make sure they weren't supposed to ask about something in a way I'm missing. One big thing I noticed was asking for negative extremes (after asking for the positive extreme) of things, where it doesn't make sense. Games that I dislike the most to me wouldn't be games I'd keep playing or even start speedrunning at all (question 18). "15. What demotivates you to speedrun?" also makes no sense, if something would demotivate me, i'd quit, wouldn't I? The repeating questions are the ones asking "which games" and in the repeated version "which game genres", which is the same to me, as there are other question asking "which [specific] games" (as in wanting me to provide a list of specific examples of games rather than genres of games). It's really mostly just worded weirdly in both versions.

So many repeating questions and many that make literally no sense. I wish I had known that the first page is literally copied onto both surveys. The form is also not made properly or I would've been offered autocomplete while filling out the second one. Would've been much better to have the 2nd form as an extension to the first with questions only appearing if they make sense. Also "Divers" is a really ugly translation for "Other", wouldn't be surprised if someone saw that as offensive. The word "Andere" exists for that cause and is used like that in all kinds of legalwork, so please use that in the future.

a lot of games on here allow emulators tho? Some because the game is very hard or nearly impossible to get physically nowadays and some because they trust in the accuracy of specific emulators and make rules around accepting those specific ones. "cuz of speed time" is also missing the point that MANY emulators (including official ones, I'm looking at you 3DSVC) fail to properly emulate the hardware leading to inaccurate emulation of lag or sometimes new (behaviours of) glitches, example being how money works in Pokemon Red/Blue 151 glitched.

so instead of sorting games by latest run date, you want the option to sort runs, not pre-categorized by game, by [latest run date/any other stat here]?

@Komrade it's probably a close call that you're not yet banned for posting complete garbage literally 95% of the time that both completely misses the point of the thread and is worth nothing more than the cringe of reading it, half of the time it's probably offensive to someone while you're at it.
