Turns out I'm totally missing all the notifications from the posts on this leaderboard. If someone has a complete run they can upload, even a short category, then let me know and I'll add it right away, as well as any others that make sense to add for that mod, though you'll have to tell me since I'm not familiar.
It's already a category under miscelaneous. Herb bags are not allowed.
There is one common method of downloading older versions of any game on steam, using this software https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader/releases/tag/DepotDownloader_2.7.3
After extracting the program, you need to open a terminal (cmd or powershell), then specify the location where it's stored (type "cd D:\DepotDownloader-windows-x64" - as an example), then run the command: D:\DepotDownloader.exe -app 248390 -depot 248391 -manifest 7910027899526660112 -username "username" -password "password" -dir D:\Games\CraftTheWorld-1.9
It requires your login information because it's accessing the game through your steam account, but it's safe. I just tried this method and it worked, bandages craft without workbench.
The ID you enter after -manifest will determine the version and can be found here https://steamdb.info/app/248390/patchnotes/ - by clicking the version's name or release date. The one provided in my example command is the latest version before 1.10.
Important: Just running the game launcher exe you get from downloading with this method doesn't seem to start an older version, - to get it working you need to navigate to where Steam stores the game (you can find it by clicking Properties -> Installed Files on Steam), then back up the folder if you need 1.10, and copy paste the Steam Depot content to the steam folder & replace everything that matches. Then the game runs 1.9 when running the executable manually or through Steam.
The no duping rule for platinum coin was a remnant of the past, from when we had no subcategory distinction between Glitched and NMA. The rule is removed now, so duping is fine. Sorry for the confusion.
Do 4 walls across the middle of the guide house instead of platforms, and put the NPC move-in icon on those walls, otherwise it won't work in multiplayer.
If you did it right the first time around, might've been sub 20 :(
This was already attempted internally on the discord server, people tend to stop caring after a few days.
I like the idea of a separate 3DS leaderboard, but unfortunately there's not much motivation at the moment from the current moderators of this leaderboard, myself included, in creating it. Part of the reason for me is that I know nothing about that version of the game, how one would go about recording the footage from that device, and if emulation is a consideration or not.
If someone has more knowledge about the points I mentioned above, and would be willing to put in the work to set up the leaderboard, by all means, go for it. You could use the existing leaderboards and their rules as a baseline, and I could provide some help with run verification (once rules are defined of course). It is pretty common practice for a third person to set up new leaderboards for a different version or game in a given franchise, as long as they've asked the maintainers of existing leaderboards to do it first. You can reference this thread in the application for creating the leaderboard to prove just that.
For one, the optimal way to do mechanical bosses with the fewest items is to get all their summons dropped randomly instead of crafting them, which makes it very unpleasant to run.
Actually "all chairs" existed as a category for a moment. And there is a run: No one else ran it so it's been removed.
By more easy to track, do you mean easier to find Terraria leaderboard on speedrun com? That may be true.
But it was a conscious decision to stop listing platforms, because if you do, that automatically creates a variable that will appear next to each run. There have been like 5, if not less, submissions in the past half a year that weren't on PC, and they were all on Android. So on most categories, including the front page category, you would just see a variable saying "Platform: PC, PC, PC" on every single one of the runs. That's just bloat. And the only way to avoid it is to not track platforms on the leaderboard. That's SRC for you. In the rules it does say that you can use platforms other than PC.
All Achievements is now on category extensions: https://www.speedrun.com/terraria_extensions#All_Achievements Make sure to check the rules. Let me know if you have more questions.
Given that there is an achievement for 200 fishing quests, I think this can safely be considered a meme category, and no more. I know of one completion on journey mode and it's around 10 hours long.
The problem, I believe, is that the a normal Scal run within the current meta already kills very close to the minimum amount of bosses.
Actually, scrap what I said above. I just realised that the leaderboard doesn't Have to specify a platform, so I unchecked PC. Other platforms are now formally accepted, as long as you're running a version equivalent of PC 1.3.5.3 or newer.
I realise that you want an option under 'platform' for other platforms than PC, not a separate category. The reason we're not doing that is that having more than one platform option automatically creates a variable (and SR.C gives no option to hide it), so when viewing the leaderboard on desktop, you would see a "Platform" variable alongside "Difficulty" and "Exact patch", which is extra unwarranted clutter. As of now, submitting non-PC runs despite the "Platform" specifying PC, is allowed, as long as you submit to the corresponding version category (1.4 or 1.3)
I think I know what you're talking about. In 1.4 you can craft 'Ancient Hallowed Armor' on demon altars, without a hardmode anvil. It's the equivalent of hallowed armor, but with the old sprites.
Almost all of the categories currently on the leaderboard are for Calamity mod. You can read more specifically if you click on any category, then on 'Read Rules'.
We may accept requests for new categories with other mods if someone has done a run of it, but that's not really implemented very well atm.
