Re posting the link to the Route here

Koffingrockz, if I may, the W2 route could be done completely different. Doing all the levels except 2-A will give you more coins to use in the run later on (there's an auto scroller before the castle, allowing collection of all 3 coins in that specific level). I believe doing this will negate the need to collect the second coin on 2-3 and the first AND third coin on 2-A when you come back to it, also allowing collection of a couple other coins on the way (third coin in 2-4)
The 2-A first coin, however, can be collected without losing any time at all (IL strats, not sure about RTA) so if you are skilled enough, you can still collect it.
Please let me know if I can update this to show my strategy?
As much as I agree, the whole thing about the RNG is that people are still gonna attempt to use them, even if they're banned from the rules. Just for safety, we could ban the use of the red blocks overall, but it just seems more logical to change the rules in some way to give no advantages over other people, which is why I suggested just having it be on a new (incompleted) profile.
Gates are a major problem, thank you for agreeing with me on that. I don't like that there's only a "hold right" kind of vibe in the current rules, with no strategy for the completion of future levels. I hope other runners agree with this.
In reply to Mishu, it's impossible to access W4 with a cannon, the only way is to beat W2 boss with a mini mushroom.
I still agree with the RNG manipulation thing though, at least take that into consideration.
Starting on a new file seems more fair because of RNG manipulation, and the gates that have to be opened. Doing it on an already completed file negates the need to open gates, but that would then change the level order in some worlds, and if we wanted to use this as practice / reference for a real run, a new file would make more sense to use. Mapping would also be different, etc...
I'm just saying that IW's are meant to be portions of a full game run and show how much skill it takes to improvise.
The whole "W8 warpless and All Levels" thing is valid. However we have to consider the entire game, and not just one world, even though it is separate.
I'm also a very good router in this game, I can be asked to route IW's and IL's if needed. I have a twitter, so go to my twitter page, message me questions. I do get twitter messages to my phone so I can reply almost immediately when I'm not working.
I will also take the time to write strategies that I know of on that google doc that Koffingrockz has provided, with permission ofcourse.
Also, when you say ruleset doesn't include cannons, does that mean it's not allowed to use cannons to access worlds? (mainly w4 cannon to access w7).
EDIT: I have already strategized W1 for best results (onto the provided google doc), and I believe it is the best way to do W1. (I've tested most strategies in this world that I posted)
It's kinda applied in the 100% category.
Only reason I personally think a mod would do it is if they also added a separate "All Red Coins" category.
Personally, it seems like a cool idea, but it's most likely gonna be an empty category (as in nobody would care to run it.) I'm also pretty sure this has been thought of in the past as well.
If it were a thing though, it would change up the egg count / lessen the intensity of the game.
I was wondering if there was any video of an "All Castles" run, where you go through every world any% doing all the castles with the koopa kids (not the towers) and being required to do the airship right before the Soda Jungle.
Could somebody post it?
There's a small mario run on youtube, but it's not that great to me.
I'm not necessarily asking for a new category (though it would be cool to see). I don't even run this game, it's just my favorite of the NSMB series to watch. I do plan on learning it when I get it / buy the system.
I agree, the Any% run isn't at the point yet where anybody should grind for the Mini Mushroom strats, and it's definitely because of the stupid RNG. It makes me wonder if the game will actually ever get to that point.
It's not like NSMB Wii or NSMB U where you only need one powerup to actually do the run, even with a TAS it would probably only use the same single power up the whole time. (NSMB Wii TAS never loses the propeller at all, compared to human strats where it's damage boosted in 8-1.)
So I'm thinking maybe a TAS with shell strats only would probably solve this, just to show a theory of what the fastest time could be if you were an absolute beast.
EDIT: Perfect RNG with shell only strats would be: First red block at 1-Tower with shell Second red block / Hammer Bro at 5-Ghost House with blue shell That would be the only way to sub 23 I believe.
This is something the TAS shows for Any%, which is I believe a sub 21min now.
To get a perfect run, you would need insanely perfect RNG utilizing the mini mushroom, and keeping it from 5-Ghost House, using it to skip the elevator going up, all the way through 8-2. Even with human reflexes, you could probably barely sub 23 with this method, if you're a god of course.
However, if you're going for shell only strats, yes a 22:30 sounds about more accurate.
I've not seen a run with the mini mushroom yet, and would like to see if anybody could actually get that RNG.
I'm also pretty sure somebody could pull a 22:30 on an emulator, but I don't see it happening for a long time, considering somebody held the world record for 9 years before Ewaller finally took it.
The thing is though, if you were doing a real warpless run, you would totally pass those completely.
An all levels run isn't the same as a warpless run, which is why I am asking for a category for the warpless run, which is what I posted. You could re-name the current category "Any% all levels" and the one that I'm requesting could be called "Any% Warpless" just for the sake of distinguishing.
I'm curious about why you need to do every level in the world for the any% run. Perfectly cool to make it another category, but I just posted a W1 any% run RTA, and didn't include 1-A and 1-3 because they're not required to get through the world as fast as possible.
Is there any way that could be updated? I know other people would appreciate this as well.
In reply to Mishu:
Warpless includes the fastest way to complete the game without cannons, with the best strategies using only worlds 3 and 7.
All castles is exactly the same thing, but it also includes world 4 and 6 any% (not all levels), so that you're forced to defeat every boss in the game atleast one time.
It's an unofficial category in NSMB U ("unofficial" meaning it's not actually posted as a category.) and it's similar to warpless in NSMB Wii, where you're forced to do every boss in the game getting through each world as fast as possible.
The thing about 8-t2, is that IL's are meant to show the best Single Segment strategies. If this was the case, the death trick would be a separate category for this level. However, adding two segments togeher would make it inaccurate, thus would need to be timed IRT.
It's already inaccurate how the current rules are, but there's too many IL's in a lot of other levels to just change it now.
Really, it should have just had every level timed IRT, because in game seconds are not the same as real time seconds anyways. However, since the rules are set, I wouldn't change those because it's been too long for this game to change it now.
IW's still have a chance to be changed to IRT, because it's a brand new category.
No, NSE is a record I took once before you absolutely destroyed me. I haven't done it since. The "All Castles" run allows for secret exits, but no cannons.
Which is why the draft could still be edited. Using the Red Toad Houses more often is what would be used to get the items you need at the appropriate time.
Also with the correct mapping, you could do this with minimal Red Toad Houses, and I wrote this document for the worst case scenario things, which would expect the run to be closer to 3 hours for a best possible time.
I should mention that I'm writing it to try and negate the map RNG.
So I'm in the process of mapping a 100% route for NSMB DS and would like to share it around to be seen.
This is a very hard thing to do in this game specifically because of how stupid the RNG is and personally I would like to see more single segment runs of this game, because the execution can be very brutal for a simple mario game.
With that in mind, there are MANY different ways that this could be done, but this is just a rough idea. If there is anything that you guys think could be edited, let me know and I will look into deciding on a change or not, or you can post a simple level order in this thread if you think this one doesn't work.

When I'm not doing 100%, I actually tend to do what I call "All Castles" as an unofficial category that I run just because.
It's basically all the warpless strats for every world, doesn't allow the usage of any cannons whatsoever, and is a very interesting category indeed.
I'm ok with the rule set for the IL's, but for IW's it should change.
With the IW's, you should be doing the run when you first enter the world so you can take into consideration the loading times for the map as well.
Also, starting out small (no powerups), with the first imput starting the timer instead of selecting the first level. Similar to how the Individual Worlds for NSMB Wii works.
I just ask that this is taken into consideration, coming from a dedicated NSMB (Wii and DS) runner, and as somebody who holds IL world records on two different levels (and counting) on the Wii.
Can definitely do discord. However, I can't really create one or help in creation. I am able to give tips vocally on there though.
LightOfEon is my skype name.
I do DS (no recordings) and Wii (Recorded IL's and IW's)
Not on too often but message me any questions and I'll answer, I can pull easy world records in IL's if they look open to me, eventually gonna put all the recorded IL's that I do into one youtube playlist.
I also have an in depth document with DS 100% route, tested myself, and still in the process of being edited.
