Individual Worlds Rules????

I'm curious about why you need to do every level in the world for the any% run. Perfectly cool to make it another category, but I just posted a W1 any% run RTA, and didn't include 1-A and 1-3 because they're not required to get through the world as fast as possible.

Is there any way that could be updated? I know other people would appreciate this as well.

I guess the category in question would be "Any% All Levels / All Levels". I'd like to have a category w/ warpless strats.

I think the reason we have all levels as the only category is so that we can just play on completed files. I mean sure, we could make routes for warpless and warps if you want but the main category for IW's should definitely be all levels.

World 1 RTA without 1-3 or 1-A is literally just your best segment in Any% Cannonless. I had the same mindset as Koffingrockz when I made the rules for it. It's the full world, but Any% of each level individually, meaning no coins are required. It follows the same rules as every other IL in the game, except for the fact that it is not ingame time.

The thing is though, if you were doing a real warpless run, you would totally pass those completely.

An all levels run isn't the same as a warpless run, which is why I am asking for a category for the warpless run, which is what I posted. You could re-name the current category "Any% all levels" and the one that I'm requesting could be called "Any% Warpless" just for the sake of distinguishing.

Are rules gonna change? After all playing on a 100% file is good (didn't thought about star coins complications with new files), but I just wanna know since I may do some IWs.

Also, I don't know about Any% Warpless, while I'd really like it, it's also true that almost no one is gonna have a run in IWs, so the more categories means less competition, maybe I'm wrong.

It'd be a little "confusing" too since in W8 warpless and All levels would be the same.

I still agree with the RNG manipulation thing though, at least take that into consideration.

Starting on a new file seems more fair because of RNG manipulation, and the gates that have to be opened. Doing it on an already completed file negates the need to open gates, but that would then change the level order in some worlds, and if we wanted to use this as practice / reference for a real run, a new file would make more sense to use. Mapping would also be different, etc...

I'm just saying that IW's are meant to be portions of a full game run and show how much skill it takes to improvise.

The whole "W8 warpless and All Levels" thing is valid. However we have to consider the entire game, and not just one world, even though it is separate.

The star coins problem would still make IWs different than portions of full game runs, unless we set a specific amount for each world. Playing on a 100% file would encourage route / powerups strats just for IWs itself rather than full runs. (it'd actually happen the same on a new file, just less I think). Also true that in 100% files gates are always opened, it doesn't really count.

Maybe we could exclude picking powerups from red blocks / hammerbros to cancel the major RNG factors and set a specific level order, but still playing on 100% files.

About Any% Warpless, I'm with having them in the leaderboards, but I can completely understand why people wouldn't want it.

Another thing: we also have to keep in mind that an IW's purpose hasn't to be a portion of full runs, I mean, they're a nice way to practice full runs, but this hasn't to be the main purpose.

As much as I agree, the whole thing about the RNG is that people are still gonna attempt to use them, even if they're banned from the rules. Just for safety, we could ban the use of the red blocks overall, but it just seems more logical to change the rules in some way to give no advantages over other people, which is why I suggested just having it be on a new (incompleted) profile.

Gates are a major problem, thank you for agreeing with me on that. I don't like that there's only a "hold right" kind of vibe in the current rules, with no strategy for the completion of future levels. I hope other runners agree with this.

While I agree that using incompleted files is more logical (and better for viewers), it's also true that new files could have more RNG than 100% files without red blocks / hammerbros, also, manipulating RNG is way far to be an easy task on 100% files and it's in a lot of cases a based on luck thing, just like full runs.

Also, I missed your point about gates and improvisation. ;-;
