I've been wanting to suggest this for so long! I definitely support it. What do you guys think about an all levels category? Poor world 4 never gets any love in RTA outside of 100%
I think we would need separate categories for each world though such as any%, 100%, and definitely all levels for at least IW.
This would be so nice to have because I run this game better than any other game I play. I support 100%
Done. Thanks for the suggestions everybody! Please be sure to read the new ruleset for the ILs. Let me know if you have any more ideas! <3 Love you all
The new ruleset is fine and comfy for the runner.
Also,I think "Low%" and "All Levels" are categories that should be added.
EDIT: Choosing and changing the levels order would bring a lot of confusion (especially on any%). Doing things on a completed file'd give a more chaotic look and RNG. Timer should start on the first imput since the runner could die on purpose on x-1 in order to manipulate RNG and then start the timer. Starting without a choosen powerup wouldn't allow faster strats (see World 7) and put other RNG factors,so I'd like to keep it (maybe not allowing a reserve item could be better). That's what I honestly think, tell me if I didn't consider something :^)
I'm ok with the rule set for the IL's, but for IW's it should change.
With the IW's, you should be doing the run when you first enter the world so you can take into consideration the loading times for the map as well.
Also, starting out small (no powerups), with the first imput starting the timer instead of selecting the first level. Similar to how the Individual Worlds for NSMB Wii works.
I just ask that this is taken into consideration, coming from a dedicated NSMB (Wii and DS) runner, and as somebody who holds IL world records on two different levels (and counting) on the Wii.
You know, just to keep things simple, why not just calculate in game time? For instances such as 8-t2 the death would be part 1 of timing and the rest would be part 2. The sum of segments would be our final time. I know this is an extreme idea but it would get rid of version differences/advantages.
The thing about 8-t2, is that IL's are meant to show the best Single Segment strategies. If this was the case, the death trick would be a separate category for this level. However, adding two segments togeher would make it inaccurate, thus would need to be timed IRT.
It's already inaccurate how the current rules are, but there's too many IL's in a lot of other levels to just change it now.
Really, it should have just had every level timed IRT, because in game seconds are not the same as real time seconds anyways. However, since the rules are set, I wouldn't change those because it's been too long for this game to change it now.
IW's still have a chance to be changed to IRT, because it's a brand new category.
A "nice" idea could be using IGT adding a certain amount of time for each transition and counting frames at the end of the level, still inaccurate because of world map's movement but we're talking about a second per IW on the worst scenario.
Another thing: IL times could still be changed from min/sec to min/sec/ms, it'd require some work, but I think it'd be worth.
Also, I think alt exits should have separate IL leaderboards since they're faster in a lot of cases.
Hmm... I guess it would be best to just keep things as simple as possible and just stick with RTA timing.
Earlier today, Twitch has that they are "implementing a 100 hour storage limit for Highlights & Uploads starting 4/19." There is a 2 month grace period for people with highlights on their channel to be able to download their highlig
