hi! I am a TASer and speedrunner of other games, and I was wondering if we know the lowest possible time without fpg or bbg, or basically, only beginner tricks? cause I want to try to make a TAS that only does beginner tricks, but I want to know the fasted time possible before I do. anyone here know?

You can get like a 4:58.1xx without anything fancier than 1f walljump, or a 4:58.5xx with the 2f walljump setup.

It's really hard to say because some things differ. If you could specify which tricks in 8-4 that would help.

With really nothing but PURE ACTUAL BEGINNER STRATS. I’d say 4:58-4:59. Pretty confident of it too.

Thanks for all of the replies, I really appreciate it. as for the reply that Echon sent, just the 1f walljump setup. no fast accel, because I think that with enough practice, anyone can do the walljump. as for any other tricks, I think the original wrong warp setup by AndrewG is beginner-friendly enough and saves around 6 seconds(if I'm not mistaken) compared to not doing the wrong warp at all. but that's about it. everything else is movement.

@ApianbelleApianbelle Thank you, could you specify one more thing, though? Would you prefer forward 1f or backward 1f?

A perfect turnaround for the backwards walljump would give you an 8-5 score, though. So perhaps it should be 5>5>4>E?

to answer your question echon, I see the front-facing 1f walljump more often than the backward, so in my opinion, it's easier to memorize. that being said, I do plan on trying to get the backward-facing walljump more consistent, maybe figuring out my own setup, as the backward jump (I think) goes a little farther than a front-facing jump.

also, I just want to point out that I finished 1-1, 1-2, 4-1, and just finished 4-2 of said TAS today. technically I didn't finish 1-1, because I didn't quite get the framerule. (the timer read 3:79 when I left the underground section, so I've got to bruteforce it to get to a 3:80) but 1-2, 4-1, and 4-2 have the framerule saved.

also hi clackjif!

A 4:58.192 is absolutely perfect if you do only beginner tricks (8-4 does 1 frame wj and no fa)
