perfect game

Even if someone would grind that many years non stop and do a 1000 attenpts per day, you would have about 200000 attempts (5 years × 365 × 1000 attempts a day). There are 2 remarks to this

  1. I dont think 200000 attempts would be enough
  2. I dont think you can play this game for so long without taking any break without going insane In conclusion i do not think a "perfect game" or tying the rta tas is going to happen.

What i have to add to this is that i think the perfect game isnt the tas. The current wr is for me the perfect game. No one ever played it faster than the wr holder did, or so its perfect for at the moment.

I believe the perfect run is the sum of every trick that humans had done individually, which would be 1 frame behind the no L+R TAS since there's a frame in 8-4 first room that requires R, nothing, R, L, R inputs which looks humanly impossible. No matter how many attempts it take, as long as the probability of getting every individual trick is non-zero, someone will pull it off. That would probably take at least a few centuries though.

@SpeedIn In the words of Miniland, "you can but it would be dumb" I assume this means that too many good runs would die to failed fast accel. The perfect run would probably be L4-2, 1-1 FPG+JonnyBoy and fast accel, 4-1 FA+FPG, a perfect 1-2g, PL8-1, TAS8-2+FA, 8-3FPG, and a perfect 8-4 (I forgot is it 8-I or something? Idk). But I'm not a TASer or anything like that so I wouldn't know if any of this would help. If it would though, the likeliness of all of that happening in a run is so unlikely that you'd probably have to play nonstop for like 10 years or something.

Doing fast accel at the start of the level doesnt save time because of framerules.

@Gietie I don't think anyone has even come close to 200k attempts, even kosmic who ran for like 10 years had maybe 50k? also, some talented general speedrunners from other games have got 456 in not many attempts in a short time like Adam Ferrari and coolkid.

This game isn't like ninja gaiden where Arcus grinded 8 hours for months literally almost everyday and got nowhere beating an old wr, smb isn't the hardest speedrun game and progression can come quick.

200k attempts is easy that 1 will be perfect I think, but who cares really, nobody will do it.

Well, you must also consider that there's multiple people speedrunning SMB, and when old ones retire, new ones would improve enough to be a WR contender.

Okay I just want to be clear I expected to be told what @Gietie said but the theoretical perfect game without framerules (or just with R00 but like... I doubt that's even possible) would pretty much be that if I didn't skip over anything. Also if we wanted to be even MORE theoretical, we could consider L+R but that's kinda cheating imo
