Category Changes and Extensions Voting

Two votes to be held, concerning the future of SCP Containment Breach speedrunning.

Firstly, we've noted the requests to make extended categories a thing. As staff team, we're okay with making these additions, so long as we have understanding of the groups consensus. One example of an extended category has been named "Intended%", where runners take level 3 from 914 and complete the rest of the game glitchless. We'll be hosting one vote that will address the extended categories and Intended%, consequentially. https://www.strawpoll.me/42741017

Secondly, the staff has been discussing matters regarding the discrepency between the Out of Bounds (OOB) and Glitchless. To clarify, we will be enforcing runs on srdc based on the use of Save Load Height Abuse (slha) to escape the gemoetry of the game. Slha has been a petty bug to enforce, for the longest time; I've been enforcing OOB differently than with Forx. With this clarification made, we will standardize how OOB is enforced.

That said, concerns of slha being the major factor in changing the path of runs has been raised (MaybeMostlyMeButYouCan'tProveAnything). The reason OOB and w/o OOB exists is to eliminate the heavy advantage slha causes. What we are currently stopping may not be effective enough to preserve the integrity of classic running. Of course, we have our controversy. This is why the second vote is being held.

To clarify on my idea on Glitchless and Glitched, runs that include exploits; such as 914 loading or Boost starting are not glitches of the game. They are mechanics that are used unintendedly, and without any glitches behind them. What Glitchless will ban is the use of slha, as it is an exploit being used to glitch through the geometry of the room, wall or door. Same goes for wrong warp. Hopefully this makes things more clear. https://www.strawpoll.me/42741019

Now, because we've noted the delays between ideas being brought to the table by our runners, and talking these things over, we've decided to correct that by adding two more channels to our discord. The first one is called; "suggestions". Ideas are put up, with seriousness behind it, please. Votes could be made via discord, and we can make legislation by talks and vote-making over a period of time. No discussions are allowed to be made in that channel. Do so via the appropriate game channel. This will be heavily enforced. The second will be called; "hey-I've-sumbmitted-my-run-review-it-already". This will be a good medium to telling us to watch it over. Simply find the verifiers, mods, and supermods, responsible for reviewing them and give us a ping. Please give the run initial time before submission. Using this 5 seconds after submitting the run will be an easy way to get you banned from that channel.

What this means for voting in Forums is we're going to be taking a step back from using this as the medium to find consensus. While we'd like to make sure we are inclusive, everywhere, we make actions based on where our majority of the community. That would happen to be at the discord. That said, we won't have a problem addressing new forum posts requesting change.

As always, find our discord here https://discord.gg/bKeJkZ6

That'll be it for now. We hope these changes can help make discussions more reliable.

Cheers -Multi

Small rule changes / Verifier applications are open!

(I guessed the link for this so I hope it works)

Hi! First things first, I'm Amy, the newest Admin / Super Moderator!

Next, a few rules have been changed:

  • All runs must show the version number

  • Set Seed Inbounds and Random Seed Inbounds runs no longer require 008 to be contained.
