Rule Sorting, Out of Bounds, and Farewell to Our Seydie

Three Things!

You may have noted some rules are now missing, but that is not the case. With the implementation of the more recent "Game Rules" tab, we've taken the time to yank the most commonly used rules and place them there. They are still in effect, and are as follows:

  • Timer starts once the screen goes black after loading is complete. The intro sequence must be skipped.
  • The console can not be utilized at all.
  • All runs should be done on a vanilla copy of the game. No resource modifications are allowed.
  • The 4GB patch is allowed

Be sure to, additionally, note the added rules for each category. They are just as important as the rules listed in the "Game Rules" tab, and failure to abide by them could cause a slap straight into the Any% for that hard worked Random% run or, worse, rejection.

That being said, we have another thing to discuss. With a bit of time to develop our thoughts, we've concluded how the out of bounds glitch will play a role in the game. The will only be permitted in the following three categories:

  • Any%
  • Legacy Any%
  • Legacy Random%

While we generally try to stay hands-off with rules and regulations, we find the only appropriate use of the out of bounds glitch is for Any% runs, where you may use a known exploit to get the fastest time possible. This is to promote a fair and fun speedrunning environment. Additionally, there will be no subcategories for this, as we feel this exploit is too game-breaking to make much of a notable time difference between each endings. Many thanks thanks to @Forx and @Seydie for the help in the decision-making.

Speaking of @Seydie, our last point has yet to be discussed. As some of you may have heard, she has stepped down from the SCP speedrunning community. She is the original founder of the community and has contributed with making both the leaderboard and discord active for several years. She will be departing us to pursue her job in being a Content Moderator for the speedrunning site.

We give her our sincere thanks and much love for the effort she has put in making this happen. After a few talks, we've decided to pass discord ownership to @Lagloyavich. Moving forward, we will continue to review speedruns and take care of moderation, so you can enjoy submitting each of your Containment Breach runs.

That's all for now. As always, you are free to discuss any of the changes, either in the forums or in the discord.

Cheers, -Multi

A Holiday Gift for Speedrunners

In light of collaboration and field testing, a new tool has been permitted to be used for future Containment Breach runs. Being the first accepted tool to break the barrier of resource modification, this is a change of substantial weight.

To reflect this, a new text to the *[Game Rules](
