Which is the best version for beginners 1.7 or 1.8? (don’t say 1.16 because this is for pre 1.9)

1.8 and 1.7 are currently in meta. if you use trading strats then go for 1.8, if towers, 1.7
they both have advantages and disadvantages. copypasta from pre-1.9 discord server
1.7 ADVANTAGES (Consider using DMT for the version, and Zen for 1.8) -Cheap tower -Automatic string farm (if cactus is used) -Aggro enderman while falling -Slightly faster death time for empty and non empty cycles -Better beds (subjective? a lot of 1.8 runners find 1.7 beds easier, can remove from the list if people want) -Current meta gives slightly slower nether entries, but closer to the ring - overall - slower tower leaves, closer to the ring -Tower slightly faster to build -Temples have wool 1.8 ADVANTAGES -Easier blazes -Slightly faster enderman pathfinding -Sheep drop food, small timesave in the overworld -Caves in deserts (yes thats good if you need to look for iron in there) -Current meta gives faster nether entries, but generally closer to spawn - overall - faster tower leaves, closer to spawn -If used the whole night and prioritizing skeletons, makes resetting for chickens not needed in the version -Crystals slightly easier to do in 1.8 rather than in 1.7, same damage for both versions
i switched to 1.7 from 1.8 recently (from 1.8.9 to 1.7.4 to be specific) and i prefer 1.7 more than 1.8
