RTA when to start it.

Hey guys, as the phantom cig issue is still under going, i'm going ahead of time in the case we do end up using RT rather than IGT for ILs.

We have to aggre when the timer start and when the timer stop.

My shot whould be the video need to start prior the start of the mission the RTA start when you exit the loading screen (As soon as the sound bip), RTA stop when you loose control of your character On foot the camera angle start to change. On Heli when Pequod say his line. For Containers extraction, it would be when the cercle is full (The second one for the extraction by container not the first one that make you only put the fulton.) If mission finish by a skip cutscene, the bipping of the last cutscene skip is the RTA Stop.

Any objection on those standards ? Note that this timing work for pretty much every mission in the game, except for: MO 06 ops Where does the bee sleep. As if you take the chopper on the hotzone, Pequod will bug out. For this mission the timer would stop when you press the input to get in the chopper.

As for MO 31 and 51 RT would stop as soon as you Idroid display Objective reach (WIch is basicly the last shot landing).

If anybody notice a mission where the above rules doesn't work, please share it.

And please, so many people care about going RT, come and drop your input as much as you did in the Phantom Cig thread. Even if it's to say that you'r okay with those standards.

This is a community decision not mine. Thanks for your time.

I hate RT but if it's what you guys want I will just have to go along with it. The problem is that the ILs are full of little times with straight routes (where it can be hard to have a better time) and the IGT will be more accurate for the miliiseconds than us...

"My shot whould be the video need to start prior the start of the mission the RTA start when you exit the loading screen (As soon as the sound bip),..."

wouldn't it be more accurate to start timing as soon as inside chopper scene fades in? personally I wouldn't mind starting from the sound bip but just to mention for thoroughness.

If you have subtitle on, timing it is way easier as it pop in less than a couple of frames actually it even pop a couple of frames before Pequod say it. Sound can still be used as a clue if people have subtitle turn off. but it's less accurate, and would mostlikely end up being a couple of MS after the subtitle.

The screen fading is a bit more tricky imo. Let's see what people think about it.

The simplest standard for IL would be to just start as you press to continue after the loading screen and end when result screen shows up. I'm 100% for RTA if it means reflex mode/serious injury is actually a detriment instead of a crutch, and vaping is viable to skip pointless waiting.

Ending on results screen is weird since it times post mission messages. But, I don't see a problem in timing from pressing continue on the loading screen. That should work universally, right?

So after trying to time a few runs by video, I have these suggestions.

Time starts when the scene preceding player control (loading screen, EPISODE X, etc) fades Time ends on foot when the camera begins to turn. Time ends on heli when the door is slammed. Time ends on container when the circle is filled. Time ends on cutscene when skip is pressed. Time ends on box exit when the load icon before game messages disappears.

The reasoning for start is that otherwise for time start, whether you get the episode number to show or not matters, which essentially voids the first run you do or after aborting and restarting to change some elements.

The reasoning for ending is that they all coincide with the UI disappearing (which would be a more accurate measure but Subsistence missions don't necessarily have any real UI), something which is likely when the game stops counting time itself.

Cutscenes and box exits are an exception but I can't see any other really reasonable point to stop.

how bout this:

i somehow fucked up and activated the cigar in the last seconds while outside of the hotzone.

not sure when it ends... could be anywhere from 1:04 to 1:09

also not sure if that saved me time or cost me time...

heres a similar run where i didnt use the cigar in the end:

You can tell it's not before the cigar becomes active since the UI doesn't disappear. The camera does start panning as soon as he actually starts vaping though so I guess that would be the timing?

You fucked it up by aiming your weapon right after equipping it btw. Works with scope and radio too, it uses it after you stop.

so when would you stop it? i went with 1:08 since thats when it starts to fade...

so you would go with 1:06 when it zooms out?

France

For you First video i'd say when the phantom cig dissapear of your HUD. But i prefere to wait for Zefie he did a retime one every missions so.. yeah he probably know it better than me.

Sweden

I'd say 1:06 yes. I think it's more accurate to when control is entirely lost and in-line with the rest of the ways to exit time-wise. It's not like my Expert Opinion™ is more valuable than anyone else's though.
