They run the cables through a splitter, with one end going into their TV, and the other going into a capture card of their choice which lets them record gameplay. What cables they're using, what capture cards, etc, all vary from runner to runner. The GV-USB2 is a common one for runners who use either composite cables or S-video consoles like the NES/SNES etc. In the case of Kosmic however, I believe he has a Hi-Def mod for the NES so he gets an even cleaner video than you would otherwise get from an unmodified system.

That would be entirely up to you. There is at present a top level run in Any% where the runner just has a camera pointed at their TV, and many games allow such runs as sufficient video evidence. Someone else here might be able to elaborate more on why you may or may not want to get a capture card. I'd personally though recommend against buying one until you're confident that it's something you're really going to get a lot of use out of.

Joedbaermilk I actually did that in my SNES speedrun! I am on 145th position is Super Mario Bros. All Stars! You could see a little part of my tv in that run, which was very unsatisfying :( I wanted to record a clean and good video

correction: both kosmic and darbian use an rgb modded console, not an hdmi one. hdmi mod actually is slower as it clocks the console down to 60 flat fps to handle hdmi

personally, playing on computer for nestopia or some other emulator and screenrecording is the easiest and requires little effort. but if you are playing an an actual console, then i do not know

Use an rca screen recorder. Its like an hdmi screen recorder but for rca. Then stream the live footage. https://www.amazon.com/RCA-HDMI-Digital-Converter-Recorder/dp/B017MY5URY

Lencelincoln214 thanks, I feel I should buy the AV to HDMI converter, but will the converter work in laptop? If I want the display of the game in laptop?

Please, don't ask for verification

I understand being excited for your run to be verified, but you have to realize that the mods for this game have tons of runs to verify, as well as internet/personal lives. Like sr.c says, sometimes verification can take 3 weeks. After all, this is no Wolfenstein 3D lol.

Oh, ok I understand 👍🏻
