Necessity of timers

In order for a run to be submitted, do you HAVE to use an IGT timer, or is just an RTA timer enough? Or is it possible to do a run without any timer at all on-screen?

I think timer is not obligatory but recommended, and a RTA timer is fine, but also if you want to make the work easier for the mods, you can put an IGT timer.

Remember, only if you want.

Not necessary but definitely recommended. setting up livesplit to show rta and igt is easy and helps the mods a good deal.

Yeah it's just that every IGT timer I've tried just hasn't worked, no matter how much troubleshooting I do.

well, in that case just use an RTA timer only, a mod can retime IGT. But how I said, it's easier work for the mods if you use a IGT timer also

@ytsirjoshie have you tried ninjasnail's timer? It's really simple

Pretty new to speedrunning here and trying to learn how things are scored, can someone explain to me the relevance of RTA? Most places people seem to be implying that IGT is the metric by which speedruns are ranked, but if that's the case is there a reason for RTA to be measured at all (on RSG runs, of course) and displayed on the leaderboard? Is it that a large discrepancy between the two is taken into account or something?
