Minecraft speedrunning: Need a little help

I'm wanting to speedrun Diversity 2. My current PB is 1:00:00.8, but this is assuming optimum conditions (ie only livesplit and MC running). I've tried recording, but it's extremely laggy when I do so. My computer specs are 3GB ram, 650 NVIDIA GFORCE graphics card, and the approximate age is 5 years, running windows 10.

Couple of things:

  1. How would I set up an in-game timer? I've tried going to edit splits and using the one set up for 1.6.4 but it didn't seem to work. I would love to get that established because it would probably shave a few minutes off my time (I'm using real-time)
  2. Anyone know of a decent recording program that runs smoothly on lower end ram? I would love to submit some runs but I can barely play when recording
  3. Are there any auto splits available for Diversity 2? Or minecraft in general? That'd really help me get more accurate times cause I'm still not excellent at manually splitting and I don't want to go without splits cause I'm trying to see where I can do better ya know?

I would be very grateful if anyone can answer at least one of the above.

Oh and something I have problems with is I'm setting up times based upon the world record but the third row (From top: Intro, Parkour, Escape) keeps setting itself to the second row's time after I exit editing to do the next row. Anyone know what's wrong with that?

  1. If you can't set up in-game time then a moderator of the leaderboards will manually do it, or you can do it yourself with an editing program. You can try to use one of the in-game timers from "Resources" but I think the links for CBenni's timers are broken, we'll see if we can try and fix that.

  2. Most people use OBS to record gameplay, I don't know how smoothly it runs on lower end ram but it's what I use.

  3. There aren't any auto splits for Minecraft, so you'd just have to get used to doing it manually.

I'm not entirely sure what problem you are having with LiveSplit, you can always ask wooferzfg1 or CryZe if you are having issues with LiveSplit

Many thanks Illumina. I didn't notice that you had replied because my post wasn't at the speedrunning forums and I didn't get a notification. I'll see how OBS works. Also what's the in-game timer's title? I've looked through resources and can't anything for it :/

  1. basically use Wsplit or Livesplit, I rerecord the game and split and pause whenever I'm not actually in game (showing both the real time timer and the ingame timer.) Best to use a different splitset for in game if you do this, else you will run against your ingame time and that's not fun.

I have submitted runs without ingame and mods didnt even use realtime as ingame for weeks, later they did, but it was still minutes shorter on real ingame time, best do it yourself if the resources arent there, just be fair.
