Hello there,
Gonna start speedrunning the game soon but i was a bit confused by a leaderboard decision and was wondering if there is more to it.
Shouldnt IGT be the defining factor for the times and not RTA?
It seems weird that you can basically lose a spot because you just take an extra second to click through something or whatever. In my opinion and what i have seen in basically any other game ive run or seen. If an IGT is available that is 100% of the time the go to measuring standard for the runs.
I know you can select the topdown from IGT but its i guess odd to me that that one isnt the first one in the list.
Usually i feel the quicker times are in the first tab
Can someone shed light on this? it just seems very odd
If you want IGT leaderboards you can always sign up to the Double Dash Players Page! https://www.mariokart64.com/mkdd/ These are just time trials though. I believe RTA is the defining category because fast menuing is considered part of the speedrun. There might be more to it and if there is I don't know, that's just I think it might be.
Yeh it really doesnt make sense to me to be like the menuing or clicking through faster is a skill. i would say the only thing that really matters should be the in game times
Someone'd need to correct me on this, but I recall something about the IGT for 50hz (PAL) vs 60hz (NTSC) being wildly inaccurate, so the decision was made years ago to use RTA because the comparisons were more precise to each other.
Hello Double Dashers! Some of you may have noticed some changes on the leaderboards recently :) Here's a quick rundown:
Leaderboards have been divided into two different categories:
- Glitchless: MB, WS, MuC, BC, and any other future skips will be banned, as will Z-Tech. A-Tech, R-Tech, and L-
