When 1.17 comes out will it be a separate category or will it be 1.16+ category? |

I think it depends if the new version has a different meta or not |

I wonder if deep dark cave finding will be a category |

I hope they add a new way for pearls, cause if they don’t we’ll have to deal with the 1.16.3 piglin trades loot table, which is awful |

Ennae or they could just increase the chance that you get pearls but an op thing for them to add is a small chance of them trading blaze rods. Its just an idea |

it well definitely not be a new category. i can 99% gaurantee |

Yet you have no clue on what small changes come to the game. I think to say 99% is way out there. There are so much small things they could change that could result in a new meta and therefor a new category. Let’s say that they introduce a new op trade with villagers, for instance a kelp for emerald trade. And suddenly we have a new meta where we want a ocean spawn. That was just one of the many examples I could give you. We just have to be patient |

@2BearsAtNoxus2BearsAtNoxus, ik what u said was just an example, but it was kinda flawed. There's basically a 99% guarantee there will not be new meta. Villager trading is already out of the question since it became so scuffed in 1.15+. Note that it's also slower than piglin bartering anyways. While it may produce a new way to get pearls(for example), a new category split would be dumb since it's already so similar to previous categories. Let's say warden's dropped pearls or u could find em in chests, while again it may be a different way of obtaining pearls, but it's similar to previous categories (pre1.9). New category splits are made when there is a drastic difference between them. 1.16 was already under heavy consideration for a split. The split did end up happening though bc of the major changes it had. The likelihood of underground caves introducing a new meta is quite unlikely. id say the next meta would be when obtaining blaze rods becomes different, but then again just speculation. You could be right, but 99% isn't too far. |

You guys have to remember that minecraft isnt specifically designed for speedrunning as well, so nothing may change for mc speedrunning. |

we can instantly get 16 pearls from 2 gold trades, and obtain those 2 gold ingots in less than 10 seconds. There's no way the method of obtaining pearls will be better. Even if travelling to the stronghold or blaze killing can somehow be improved, speedrunners will be stuck in the past because pearl trade nerfs. we hesitated to even let 1.16 be a seperate category, we don't need another one |

If running 1.17 will be popular, which is quite unlikely since 1.16 is by far the most optimized version for speedrunning |

unless they come up with a new cave meta or something |

Also, what if we find a seed that has a giant cave with all necessary resources and a stronghold portal room next to it? You just have to believe! |
