why does the NTSC version have two different demos? does it have to do with colliding with enemies? and why does the PAL version only have one demo? Thank you.
Yes, I remember I saw a video about this, smb1 collision detection with enemies happens every other frame, so during the NTSC demo (the gameplay with no audio after the title screen) a couple of different things can happen.

Yeah neb is right, basically half of the time the demo starts on an odd frame half the time it's even. One of them mario bonks on a block, but the actual intended outcome is for mario to interact with the goomba on the second frame and to not bonk the block.
