Hi! I recently started speed running smb. But one thing I noticed when watching darbians any percent tutorial is that my game feels different in two places. And I don't think this is due to frame rule.
first place: in the beginning of 8-2 where we have two flying coops and a lakitu he is jumping over the first coop, landing the second step, full jump to the next stair set and then continue. If I do the same I will hit the falling spike ball (skinny egg) from the lakitu every time. I have tried it over and over and I don't see any possible way not to hit it using this method. (running full speed)
second place: beginning of 8-4 he is running full speed and lands on the second step where he can jump over the lava. if I run full speed I will still land on the edge on the first step.
Am I just being a noob or is it difference in games?
I do play on openEmu on a Mac, could that be it? or maybe the rom is deffected?
If anyone have the solution I would be very happy. And if you have a better emulator for Mac or a good rom please provide it so I can test it out!
Thanks for all!

You need to buffer the b input for 8-4 i think. If you land on the 1st step then you are not running.
I bet you're using a PAL rom - on PAL, the jump on 8-2 is literally impossible without slowing down, on NTSC it's pretty easy
Just watched one of your videos, and you are definitely using a PAL ROM.
Thanks guys! I will delete the PAL ROM and try to find a Japan or USA ROM!
You guys are the best!
See you on the leaderboard ;)
You could go for PAL WR instead PogChamp the WR is 5:11 by Miqoou PAL is a good challenge, much harder than NTSC
Holly shit guys! It is too much easier with a ntsc! even landing on the pipe lip is easier! haha wr pal! Too bad I found out that I was running a harder version, maybe would have gotten that Pal wr in a couple of months xD
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
