Okay. My little brother, NathanAlmighty, has found a setup for an 8-1 FPG. He went and commented on my channel and the vid is here:
He is currently out of town and he doesn't have a phone, so I can't really communicate with him outside of YouTube, but yeah.
that won't save any time, because in 8-1, if you slow down even the slightest bit, you will lose the framerule. Doing FPG would just negate the framerule that you lose by slowing down that little bit in the set up. Nice find though.
Because slowing down as part of the setup would lose a framerule, so you have a net gain/loss of none.
Yeah fpg by itself only saves 10 frames iirc, not enough to push you to the next framerule in 8-1
I think FPG saves 14 frames by itself. Also I think that kosmicd12 already tried it if he failed star block. Idk he got it or not.
Things like these really need an explanation of the setup lol. It would actually be useful if you miss the star block. But from what I can tell it's just normal flagpole glitch setup but with a random slowdown before the last pipe..?
FPG only saves 11 frames. Even if humans were to use this to get FPG, they wouldn't save the framerule. Unless humans know how to fast acceleration consistently everywhere in this level which I doubt, I don't think this will be used in an RTA.
@Eddie, Sockfolder FPG saves 15 frames over normal top of the flagpole. A perfect FPG saves 19 frames. Fast accel can save 2. It's humanly possible for a human to get this framerule. But I agree as of now it seems unlikely in RTA. The main point of the setup in this thread though would be to save a run that has bad judges.
What if you jump from the start of the first tile (with two blocks) to the complete start of the third one (with six blocks) and then to the flagpole? Or would that ruin the FPG?
Ok. But though everything, it is still easier to do the 1-2 clip and even the fast 4-2 than this...
If anyone wants a perfect time, good luck xD
Would this FR be humanly possible? I would think not. This seems about as likely as saving a FR in 8-2. Both require fast acceleration and essentially above-human capabilities from my perspective.
Can we get like a frame by frame input thing for this with input display, or at least a tutorial.

Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
