No, you have to start from a fresh file; what you're describing is an NG+ situation (starting with 15 HP collected in a previous savefile) which is not what an Any% speedrun is about.
Hey! As a mod of Anno 1404 I'd like to make some changes to the Anno series page (add a theme, replace the terrible current logo, add a link to the community discord). However, it seems that the series page currently has no moderators (although I'm not sure since when) so I was hoping you could help me out!
https://www.speedrun.com/user/RLK_0FF seems like a bot to me, based on their submission to the Crash NST leaderboard https://www.speedrun.com/crashnst/run/y82jenny
If anyone is interested in doing speedruns of ROM hacks of this game (to be found, e.g., here) there now is a leaderboard dedicated to them: click here or click on "ROM Hacks" in the navigation bar on the left. Have fun everyone!
Today we added a page for ROM hacks of Prince of Persia SNES so if a content mod could label it as such that would be great!
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't sprite manipulation and kill button a consequence of warping? (Meaning that disallowing warping, as it is done in the current rules, does already imply that none of these other glitches are possible?) Thus Any% (Warp) would already be the same as Any% (Glitchless), at least given our current knowledge of glitches in this game. Either way I would be okay with renaming the category to Glitchless or NMG while maintaining the current ruleset.
It's time for yet another Prince of Persia speedrunning marathon which I hereby would like to request a page for! This marathon exists to promote speedrunning the series and to have fun with everyone since we're a relatively small community.
Name: Prince of Persia Marathon 2019 Goal: Promote Prince of Persia's speedrunning while having fun, no charity or donations Dates: From 15 November 2019 to 17 November 2019 Type: hybrid (some of us are meeting up on-site, but people showing off runs online is allowed as well) Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/popruns Mods: 7eraser7, epicdudeguy, Sphere, Samabam, tocaloni1
Previous marathons: 2016: https://www.speedrun.com/Prince_of_Persia_Marathon_2016 2017: https://www.speedrun.com/Prince_of_Persia_Marathon_2017 2018: https://www.speedrun.com/popmarathon2018
Thanks in advance!
Actually I agree with Skino's (second-to-)last post; the subdivision "Gate Skip (=Any%) / No Gate Skip / No Warp" is justified by how much runs of these categories differ and is something I agree with. But to me there is no point in having specified subcategores for warps to different levels as
- those make the board less overseeable
- routes change all the time. Having separate (sub)categories for outdated, slower routes which do not differ in the glitches they use is not the point of a speedrun leaderboard.
Of course there is no objective measure here; this is solely my opinion on what a leaderboard on this site should be there for and anybody else is entitled to have a different opinion on this matter.
This sounds quite reasonable, I just implemented your suggestions. If some wording in the ruleset is too ambiguous or enhanceable in another way, feel free to tell us.
Congratulations again on finding this new warp!
Correct me if I'm mistaken: the current Any% (No Gate Skip) route equals what you describe as "Warp 8" given said route warps to level 8? So the only thing that gets added really is Warp 16?
Another thing I'd be fond of, given the growing number of warp routes, is to simply have Any% (with Warp 16 route) and Any% (No Warp) as main categories, and all other warp categories/routes become miscellaneous. Although I agree on the respective runs being features in different categories, I'd find it rather confusing for someone who first visits this leaderboard and sees
- Any% (Warp 16)
- Any% (Warp 6)
- Any% (Warp 8)
- Any% (No Warp) To visualize my idea, I (at least temporarily) changed the boards accordingly in this regard.
Right, so the idea is that for the Any% runs one has to choose the route that was taken:
Of course, one may expand this list whenever there are new, meaningful warp routes which differ significantly from the current ones.
For the filtering; via the filter menu on the board it's possible to only display the runs one cares about:
For example, if you only want to see the runs which use the Gate thief route and not the regular one, one would select "Filter" > "Route" > "Gate thief" in the menu displayed above--which as of now would of course yield an empty board because there is no Gate thief submission so far, but I hope this explains the concept in a satisfying manner.
I don't see a point in making a new category over this as this clearly falls under the whole Warp thing. However, we could introduce a variable for the different routes (much like Dark souls for example does ) which then could be filtered out, i.e. if someone wants to see the fastest non-Gate Thief time, one can use the respective filter on the board to only see the runs he is interested in.
Either way, given the recent activity of SNES as well as the differences to the main game it's probably best to give this port it's own leaderboard (as also requested by several people over the last days)--so please do not worry if the SNES subcategory vanishes from this board.
Edit: Following up on what I wrote earlier, I will lock this thread here but of course the discussion may be continued over at the new SNES board.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have updated the SNES (Warp) rules in accordance with the proposed ideas (or so I believe). This does of course not mean that it can't be subject to possible further changes.
"Can you PLEASE not use the term "world record'? It's very misleading and assumes that the video posted is the fastest time, where in fact someone else could have a faster, unrecorded version. Could you please use the term BKTWVEAAAVBMOFSRC (best known time with video evidence as approved and verified by members of the speed running community) in the future. This would help lower confusion in these types of videos in regard to the ever updating and evolving nature of the speedrunning community."
Hey! Because we had a handful of new PoP1 runners lately who are sadly not in the Prince of Persia Discord server - I thought I'd additionally announce here that submissions for the Prince of Persia Marathon 2018 are open for another week! So if you're interesting in showing off one of the ports for this game, feel free to submit a run to the marathon here and also join the PoP discord for easier communication!
