Connecticut, USAi wouldnt say people were protecting him, but more trying to give a fair chance to a total stranger and not jumping to conclusions till its 100%. maybe language barriers give off different tones than intended when reading.

@PakLomak that fight is not "inhuman"... i know how to listen, and i know how to play this game. that fight its lucky and ive seen and had similar fights...
trying to give this guy the benefit of the doubt before theres a bunch of people that dont have runs accusing this guy of cheating. put your pitchforks down for a moment till people that have been playing this game for years take a good look and make a call.
hmm. the video you posted isnt really enough to say the dude is cheating. some strange movements but nothing inhuman... stage 5 boss doesnt look crazy. maybe the sub pixel jump in level 1 was very lucky... him going under a coffin in level 1 is not fishy, his weird astaroth kill is not the normal strat but maybe we can credit that to him not being an experienced player and getting lucky....
youre probably just better off downloading one of the ones aquas mentioned, its not like you gotta pay for them. pretty standard emulators for most speedruns on this site.
so whats the deal? is this speedrun based off time of completion , or are you guys just doing a high score?

ah okay i understand. it does not effect ranking but will make your job harder as you will now have to sit and make sure that the runner has not taken a death, game over, or damage. good luck.

as for the 1 cc thing, are you saying that the selected difficulty does not effect things in the game like boss health?
im more interested in a standard rule set. there is a run on the board for normal that JejuKyo did and it has 5 health and 5 bombs instead of 3 and 3.
is this just something thats done in the dip switches? if this is allowed then this will change things forsure and allow for faster runs.
Just to be clear, my intention was not to point fingers, or accuse anyone of anything. that pc version is legit in the sense that it was an official release, so its no fault to the runner at all. but in comparison, that version runs "normal" difficulty faster. im not trying to take away anyones "wr".
This might be nit picking a dead game, but just cause its not popular doesnt mean we shouldnt recognize that pc version on normal difficulty is faster.
do we separate and make a new category? do we just accept that pc is faster for normal so if you want to get a competitive time in normal mode then we gate keep by saying you need to buy the game from windows store and play on pc?
hi there! so i was watching the current wr run on normal mode and noticed it looked to be a bit faster with the animations, so i ended up pulling 2 other runs to compare the auto scroller section. in theory they should be pretty close to the same time... upon review the PC version is about 15 seconds faster.
here is the video i made up real quick. i lined them up to be on the first frame that the cart lands and is fully level. the fightcade co op video is a bit choppy. (i could record that level myself on fightcare if needed) but it starts at the same time as the others.
maybe a deeper dive can happen but i wanted to open this up for discussion and see if anyone has any thoughts
Hi there, just wanted to throw this out there in a thread instead of just adding this as a rule but it seems that the mister fpga plays the game a bit faster than the snes, ive watched runs, and i also own one so i did a small amount of comparison in blue door.
both videos start on the frame that the boss health bar starts to fly away.
i put in a request for the devs on snes core for mister so we will see what happens but apparently it is on a game to game basis. so for the time being i would say that runs on the mister probably are a no go for this game.
if anyone would like to dive deeper and give input that would be cool, thanks!

curious question, some of these runs dont show difficulty, is this an honor system or is there an easy way of telling its on hardest just from viewing the gameplay?
