It's an Xbox / PC game, but I think it has more or less what you described. Fastest Any% times are just short of an hour; 100% is 2.5 to 3.

Well this is apropos... I just did one yesterday for about 9.5 hours before my computer shut down. [Harvest Moon 64]

Becoming rare doesn't necessarily mean that it's going extinct. The pendulum is on this side now, but that doesn't mean it won't swing back. Who knows? Maybe doing relay races of game segments or something will become a thing? I think I'd watch that.

Well, ya know, tournaments and races- but the main forum sections aren't in alphabetical order anymore...

I think I'm going to take a look at that as a for funsies project. A chrome extension or something.

Woohoo a wired potato! Reminds me of Portal 2... Welcome back!

Late introductions are cool too; honestly, I don't think I ever did an introduction either. Maybe I'll get around to it someday...

Classic glitchy games are my favorites too. Hey, but I'm into the same kind of stuff, so I might be able to give you some recommendations if you have any more specific requests. The ones on my profile page are mostly free abandoned old PC games that aren't the most popular, but may or may not be right down your alley. I'm into Harvest Moon 64 right now, which isn't free, but it's full of glitches and is nearly 90% routing. It has a pretty cool community, and if you're interested, I can send you a link to the discord.

I'd say welcome to the site, but you've been here for a while, so I'll just say keep enjoying the site, ha! Cheers!

From what you describe, it sounds like the best way to go about handling this type of game on this particular site is more or less how it is already set up over there. If I remember correctly, this series consists of many individual scenarios that don't really interact or connect with each other at all. The more popular games approach this kind of game by having submissions for each individual level, then categorize it by which version it is from. In some games, "version" refers to the console or which patch update or something similar, but in your case, these "versions" would be the "original" without updated features and the "classic" with the newer features.

As KK mentioned, there's not much we can do here to help you out with communities elsewhere. However, if you are being brickwalled on this site, bring it up to one of the supermods. They are generally fairly responsive and you seem to understand the nuances and have a passion for these games; there's no reason I can see that you wouldn't be allowed to be a mod for games in this series. If you would like this game to have a better reputation, I think that adopting the game here is a good place to start.

I would recommend doing thorough research before just jumping into something like this. Get the full list of all the games you plan to run and lay them all out. Wikipedia is probably the best resource for this. You'll get a good idea of just how much time- at the very least- you can realistically expect to invest in this, and decide whether or not it's worth that time investment. If it is, then I'd recommend putting them all together in a schedule in something like Excel, and plan out at least the first month or two. That should be plenty of time to get the feel of what you're really getting yourself into and after that time, you can re-evaluate whether or not you really want to do this.

I'm about a week and a half into Nanowrimo right now, and it's about the time that people start realizing what exactly it is that they've gotten themselves into. This sounds like a very similar, though much larger scale quest, and I thought I'd give you my opinion while the feeling is still fresh on my mind. That's not to say you shouldn't do it- if it's something you truly want to do, then go for it! but if it's anything like Nanowrimo, there will eventually come a point when it feels like grinding and not very fun, and you'll have to push through it. Talk to anyone Nanowrimo-ing right now and they'll tell you all about it. Cheers, and good luck my friend!

Tetris is the first thing that comes to my mind. It has none of those things.

Interesting. Sounds like you could be legendary if you pulled it off during an event like GDQ. Go big or go home, yeah? Yeah. You've got this.

Does nobody remember Aeris? I feel so old. Maybe the graphics weren't so great, but FF7 was a masterpiece of storytelling.

For me, if something is borderline, it's easier to think about how I'd feel if someone commented that to me during my game.

In the Harvest Moon 64 universe, Demo finally hit sub-1:20 on Elli, and nearly everyone in the community has made a PB in at least one category this week. The planets must all be aligned or something, because there's lots of good luck going around this week.

Does it happen every time or was it a one-time thing? Also, did the crash notification have any details or was it just a general "program has crashed" text?

There are plenty of orphan games out there to choose from (only one lonely runner) if you sort the game search by inverse player count. I think that would have the added effect of making the sole runner of that game feel a little more accepted by the community- I think everyone likes it when their favorite game gets more attention.

You should do the podcast. (Unless there was a good reason you quit comedy besides being too busy.)
