Separating All Secrets even more with NG+ and NG I don't think is worth it. Another thing to note is that if people do it from a NG+ file, they can also use Level Select if they miss a secret, while if someone on a NG file does, they have to go through the entire 1.5 minute cutscene at the end and then go back and get it (since they don't yet have Level Select). So I think especially for that reason we need to define what is and isn't allowed better.
Oh by the way since this thread has to do with mods and mods can do things, could we have a Sticky with the Discord link on it? I had trouble finding it before even knowing that it existed and so did another runner recently, so it would just be helpful it was right at the top and clearly visible to any new runners.
It's being used a lot more recently and would be cool to see some more people pop in :)
Have you tried to right click LiveSplit > Settings > Check Global Hotkeys?
@Soru, in Civilization, there's different game speeds that determine how long it takes things to build and etc. That's what he means by different speeds.
But welcome to the community AshKaperdon! It doesn't seem like there's a rule about the speed, but obviously a time where you would be playing at a different speed or other different settings/victory goals would be a different category than playing at a faster or slower speed or goal. I'd definitely recommend trying to talk to TripleCodeBurger since he'll know more on the topic, and then just doing some runs of it to see what is faster or slower.
If I remember correctly Civ IV also included scenarios, which would be consistent every time and would allow you to optimize a "seeded" level and may also be a good place to start.
But best of luck! Hope it goes well!
Hope your finals went well Soulcloset! And from my understanding any Super Mod can appoint other moderators, so I don't think that's an issue.
We were talking about this before and I definitely don't see the problem in removing mods that no are actively checking and accepting runs and replacing them with a couple others that check here a lot anyways. Also with the possibility of more people coming in from seeing the Shots Fired 2 run means that there could be a lot more requests on the way.
I appreciate what the current active mods have done, and I know that they all have lives beyond speedrunning, but some extra help is a good idea.
It's a bit of a pain in the butt to clear all the data for every individual run, but that would definitely be the quickest way to do it instead of NG+. Unlocking all the secrets and then doing runs has the completion dialogue play for every terminal, so it takes a ton of time to finish. But nothing stops you from just doing NG+ if you don't want to reset every time, and later you can decide if you want to take it more seriously and start doing it from a clean file. It's still a run that hasn't had much done with it, so it isn't as strict as the other ones.

Feel free to submit the run to here (assuming this is the right game). The top right of that page has a red "Submit Run" link that should bring you to a form to fill out. Best of luck with your runs!
It seems like it happens for a couple people that I watched, where gameplay after resetting is delayed for showing up until they've gotten into the typing section right after the reset. But none to the extent where my gameplay was completely not there past Fall.
It seems to be no longer doing this, though I'm not sure if it's because of a shift to OBS Studio or because I'm launching directly from the .exe now instead of the launcher (which is quicker anyways for anyone that still launches from Steam).
But still something for new people to look out for, so you don't end up not recording half of a run.
Not sure if anyone else has ran into this issue, but recently after quitting once the red message shows up after Hacker and re-entering for me makes it where OBS no longer records the game capture until you disable and re-enable the capture. If you don't, the next 3-4 minutes of gameplay won't show up, but will randomly re-enable itself sometime later (for me it was Office). This doesn't seem to happen when quitting the game normally to reset or otherwise, but only when it plays the segment after being forced to leave and coming back.
I just wanted to throw that out there in case other people didn't know to keep their eye out for it, and see if anyone else that has encountered the issue has some sort of solution or reasoning for it happening. It doesn't seem to 100% happen, but just sporadically.
@McBobX First, the thread is half a year old. Would've probably just been better to make your own if you were having issues.
You don't need splits even, just a recording that you can time afterwards, so if your computer can't handle LiveSplit and the game and recording, either try other splitting programs like WSplit or just don't use one at all. Alternatively, delete LiveSplit, redownload it, and see if it's working any better then.
They're allowed as a separate category for any game. You don't compare single segment and segmented runs against each other, but a segmented run allows for people to do the riskiest strats and show off how a level/section can be done optimally, so there's no harm in it in the end.
Right Click the splits > Edit Layout > + Button > Media > Sound Effects
Just change the faded "Enter a reply..." text before you type a comment on this board to a list of things/steps to do BEFORE posting here and that this is a last resort. Seems simpler than cleaning up the board to one page or anything like that and they have to see it before posting.
