Dugongue occasionally opens bounties for NES runs. Check out his twitter to see if he has any open ones currently (or ask him)

Trust nobody, not even yourself, to verify runs

Any OOT category, even most of the meme ones, is better than watching OOT Any%

Why do you think that LB is messed up? The game looks like a “Survive the longest” type of game. So surviving for 5 minutes means you played better than surviving for 2 minutes so the board needs to be sorted inversely (which it is). So unless I’m mistaken in what the game’s purpose is, the board looks fine.

Also, it’s probably best to raise a concern like that to the mods instead of the Site Bugs thread.

13+ hours Kingdom Hearts 1 Japanese 100%. But it had a bad route and is easily improvable to 11-12 hours.

@blueYOSHI If people aren’t properly submitting times with IGT and RTA then that is up to the moderators of the game in question to fix when verifying the submissions. If they don’t do that then they are bad moderators.

A user/mod error is not a bug.

Audio and video cables will work fine regardless of region, but power cables might not. For example, a JP PS2 won’t work with a US power cable (it won’t fit into the console). I don’t have a JP N64 so I can’t comment on it, but I would search for a JP power cable to be safe.

On that topic however, why are you buying a JP N64? The N64 is one of the easiest consoles to bypass region locking on (all you need to do is switch the backs of the carts. Put an English back on a JP cart to use it on a US console). The screwdrivers needed to unscrew the backs are cheap, like maybe $10. I can’t think of any reason you’d need to spend the extra money to get a JP one (although since you said it’s en route this is kinda late advice :/ )

The run is there. Go to Filters -> Version -> Any (or Update 2) and the run will show up. I'd wager that your default filter isn't set to show Any/Update 2 for version and that's why the run isn't showing up by default (or maybe it's an actual bug and filters got messed up somehow but check the defaults first).

@plankboii the mod for Civ III was online just 2 days ago, if you have category requests you should create a forum post on the game’s forums asking for them. Wanting to make new categories for a game isn’t a reason to request mod especially when the mod was online very recently.

Awesome. ReCOM is kinda hot right now too with all of the RNG manipulation being worked on for Sora’s Story so that should be a fun run once it’s all ironed out.

Hello! Glad you’re interested in running KH, what games are you looking to run? I’d recommend joining our discord (pinned here in the forums) as that’s where a lot of us hang out and talk/offer help.

Let us know if you have any questions and GL on your runs!

@NihilistComedyHour that’s for SMB1, the OP is talking about SMB3

Another thing is that some games became so broken that single segment runs became more viable and much shorter. As games got shorter due to better routing and more people experimenting, the need to do segmented runs because of time constraints disappeared.

Plus, as timers have gotten more advanced, the work of segmented runs is done during an RTA run so to speak. If you take your sum of best for a game you’re grinding RTA, that would essentially be your segmented run time since it’s the best you’ve ever done on each segment.

I think Torje once compiled all his OOT any% best segments and spliced them together into a single video which is essentially a segmented run of the game. So doing that is much easier and more viewer friendly then just grinding segments endlessly.

FF3 RNG manip behaves differently on emu and console if I remember correctly (its been a while since I messed with it). I think on console you need to start a file, get 2 encounters, take 7 steps then reset and that will give you the RNG for the run.

I don’t know how an Everdrive messes with RAM values (I never tried maniping RNG with mine), so I can’t comment on that. However it is possible it scrambles the RAM since I think the Nightmare On Elm Street community ran into an issue where an Everdrive was unable to do standard RNG manip that a real NES cart could. So it’s possible that FF3 needs different RNG manip on flash cart too.

But assuming I remembered the pre run setup correctly, it worked for me on a real FF3 Famicom cart.

If it doesn’t count as proof then those are some lame mods/rules.

As long as it’s watchable and people can see what is happening then that should be fine proof (especially since HD capture cards can be pricey).

That's a good budget for an HD capture card as most of the good quality ones will be around that price.

A lot of people recommend Elgato, but there are also a bunch of people that like Avermedia as well. Both brands have their merits and both are good. In either case, aim to get an internal PCI one as opposed to one that you'll connect to your computer via USB. HD capture cards that use USB can have multiple seconds of delay in the capture (it won't mean anything for accuracy purposes, but it can be noticeable to viewers). The internal ones have very little to no delay in the capture so those are obviously better even though they are probably a bit more expensive than a USB one.

As for being user friendly, the capture cards themselves usually aren't that hard to setup; it's usually just an install of a few drivers. After that, it's just configuring it into your layout using OBS/XSplit/whatever broadcasting software you're using to build your stream layout the way you want and like.

For future reference, necroing 4 month old threads while adding nothing of value is just silly and bad forum etiquette.

Anyway, Bingo in a speedrun sense is exactly the same as traditional Bingo - you get a game board with 25 goals on it and you need to complete 5 in a row to get a Bingo. In other words, complete all 5 goals on a diagonal, row or column just like “normal” Bingo. It’s popular among games with extensive glitches like OOT where it’s an exercise is routing and being knowledgeable on the game.

I mean SRL still is the most popular and easiest way to organize large scale races.

Until a discord bot integrated with Livesplit or some other timer is definitively finished (ZSR is working on one and has it ready for testing) then SRL is really the only option.

Mobile has a bug with the top menu (the one with all the icons for notifications, all the drop downs, etc.)

When you scroll down a page, the menu bar stays stuck to the top and scrolls down with you. This is fine, but if you click on any of the icons, you get jumped back to the top of the page. So, if I'm at the bottom of a thread from reading the posts and hit my notifications, when I close the notifications drop down/pop up/whatever I'm back at the top of the page again. This is mostly just annoying if Im scrolling down a page and accidentally hit one of the menu choices because now I have to re-scroll all the way back down the page again.

Not a huge bug, just a minor one that can be annoying every now and then.
