This is done with the practice ROM aka gz. You can find a link to it here under “Resources”.

SRL isn’t a broadcasting platform, it’s just a website that aggregates twitch streams for its users (it also has an IRC client for racing). You stream on sites like Twitch, so that’s where your account needs to be created.

I think you can technically contact someone on Duolingo by posting publicly on their profile. So I guess it technically counts as a (pretty bad) social media link?

We (the general forums/users of this site) don’t have any say in what gets added as a category for any game. The community for each game decides what categories they want and the mods of the game can add them.

If you’d like to add a category to a game, you need to contact the community and the mods for the game. You can do this through the game’s forums or discord server (if they have one). Both can be found on the LBs for the game in the left sidebar. Additionally, you’ll need to comply with all rules the game may have for adding categories. Every game has different rules, but the most common one are that multiple different runners need to have runs for the category you want to add. The mods of the game can confirm any rules they might have regarding new categories for you.

Good luck with all your future runs.

What if those runs aren’t on YouTube? How would that button you want added to the site create a YouTube playlist for you?

Either way, this doesn’t seem like something the site will be adding any time soon (if ever). This site isn’t a video streaming platform, it’s not designed to create video playlists. It’s expected that you’d pick the run you want to watch and watch it. Once it’s done, you’d go to the next one. If you’re looking to surf videos more easily, you’re much better off actually going to YouTube and searching for the ILs there.

Doesn't it just take a cell phone number to verify your YouTube account? I would really recommend doing that, it'll make your life so much easier.

But if for some reason that's really out of the question, then it's honestly up to the mods of any game you submit runs to. Multiple VODs is kind of a gray area - although it tends to be a much bigger issue for top level runs - since multiple VODs can be a big indicator of potential splices, some games don't like them as it can make verification more difficult. Obviously if the length of the run is substantial multiple VODs can't be helped, but those are edge cases for most games.

I would check with the mods of any game you want to submit runs for, and if you end up doing it this way, I would make sure that none of the VODs contain missing parts of video.

I think automatic emojis are just awful; they should either be removed or tweaked to work better (like needing to surround them in : to generate like twitch does in their chat) so they don't get inserted into various places in posts/guides.

It's annoying to change wording in any guides I post to avoid emojis like the ones created by "8)" or "bop". If it's too hard to change site wide then at least make the change for the Guides section of any LBs as I'm sure anyone actually posting a real guide won't want emojis littered through it.

The existing mods will usually only add people when there is a need for help with moderating the game. They will tend to add people who are involved in the game/community extensively. So, to directly answer your question, no, you probably won’t be added as a moderator of Mario Kart Wii anytime soon as that game doesn’t appear to need more moderators and your account is very new.

N64 emulation is already pretty bad in terms of accuracy compared to a normal console, and PJ64 1.6 is the “least bad” version of the emulator to use. It’s still not comparable to a real console (hence why SM64 splits its categories out), but it’s the best version out there. Other emulators or newer versions of PJ64 tend to be even more inaccurate and have more issues with consistency, so those are traditionally banned for use.

If you’re still getting the same message then try installing the developer pack. I honestly didn’t know which was required for LiveSplit so I took a guess. I always have the developer pack installed on my machine so I’ve never dealt with the prompt before.

This sounds like RAM prepping (where you perform actions within the game to load values into RAM that don’t get reinitialized later on) in order to manipulate better RNG for the first stage. I’m of the opinion that anything like this should always be banned, irrelevant to the question of using a save state. I don’t agree with allowing actions to be performed that aren’t timed and then using the results of those actions in a run.

I feel like any action that contributes to the behavior of the run - so any action or manipulation that affects the run in any way - should be included in the time of the run. Otherwise, you could take this way to the extreme. What if someone found a way to influence the entire game’s RNG by playing the game for 20 minutes? Would you allow that to be used? To me that seems really unnatural, but that’s kind of the issue with RAM prepping in general.

Your game isn’t the first game to allow save states to be used to bypass the time it takes to do RAM prepping, but I personally think the whole concept should always be banned in a game. Some games do this by always having runs start from a console power on so as to avoid any RAM preparation from being done. That’s how I would go about it. I would either ban RAM prepping by always having the run start from a power on (or a true console reset if that reinitializes the RAM) or I would require that anything you do in the game be included in the final time. In either scenario, save states would obviously be banned as an emulator only function.

The latter method allows the manipulation to still exist, it just makes sure that the action is always included in the run. My personal method of choice would be the first option because then it removes the whole gray area of RAM prepping in general and starting from power on or a reset vs. an in-game death is just so much more reasonable to me.

So I guess the answer to your question is that I really dislike any game that allows save states to be used at all, no matter what their purpose is, but I also don’t like the fact that you allow RAM prepping either.

I'm pretty sure you only need the .NET Framework Runtime (not the Developer Pack). I assume those are the two links you're seeing on the page you're taken to.

Direct all game specific questions to the forums of that game so that way the mods/community can help you. You can find the Minecraft series forums here https://www.speedrun.com/minecraft/forum and from there you can access of the sub-forums to see the individual games' forums.

LiveSplit is a Windows C# application, so in order to run it, you’ll need at least a runtime version of the .NET framework for Windows.

So what you need to do now is exactly what LiveSplit is telling you to do - install version 4.6.1 or newer (I believe it’s up around 4.8 right now) of the .NET framework. A simple google search will provide you with the appropriate Microsoft page to make the download.

There is no way to overlay a timer when streaming direct from the PS4. You’ll need to use a capture card or Remote Play to setup a layout in OBS or some other broadcasting software if you’d like to show a timer.

ROBLOX mods handle their own game requests, you will need to direct all questions regarding that process and it's requirements to them.
