You have found No-R, No-MT or Alternative Route runs done years ago that are not in the leaderboards? Let us know in this thread! Just post the time, the player and the source where you got the time from.

Also, all the times that have been submitted to the leaderboards of the Nsider threads are NOT included in the speedrun.com leaderboards, because I have not found any archive or backup of these threads. If you have a backup of these threads, please send them here! Thanks!

Mario Kart DS - Golden Karts Edition - Updates Thread

In this thread, I will keep track of the updates for MKDS:GKE. I will start with the latest update, 1.2.

Version 1.2 added:

Bignana: replaces Cucumber. Bignana is a track specialist: in fact, in Yoshi Falls, this kart can use the waterfalls as cannon, to skip entire portions of the track. This aside, Bignana offers to you 100 frames of Mini-Turbo boost, the best handling in the vanilla game and an average speed and drift.
Golden Musher: replaces Mushmellow. Golden Musher really is a giant Golden Mushroom. In all senses: it knows exactly how you would use mushrooms. To cut off-road. Yeah. Golden Musher knows that. In fact, Golden Musher will bring you to the speed of light if you off-road. Yep, off-road now feels like a zipper on steroids. However, this comes with a cost: 49 frames of Mini-Turbo and extremely low speed on-road. But hey, tracks like Desert Hills or GBA Sky Garden should end up being very fun to play nonetheless!

Resources Update and Categories Addition

Well, MKDSDX is a lot more dead than EKDS, and it probably will stay like this for a good while since now CTGP-N is released. But I still wanted to do 2 small things: The first one is to add a lot of resources, pretty much everything you need to patch the game along with small useful additions. The second one is the addition of categories: I've added Non-PRB, PRB and SC. Non-PRB doesn't allow PRB and Glitch-SC, PRB doesn't allow Glitch-SC and SC allows everything. Along with those, I've added a flap category for all of these. I don't think we will receive any activity unless in SC tracks which are very cool to break, but I still felt like to do this. No reason at all. And from Pika, that's all.

Resources Update & Leaderboards Re-Organization

RESOURCES UPDATE So after I saw a post asking the download link for the game since there was none in resources, I've decided to put some useful stuff in the Resources. This stuff includes the legal download for the Hack, SHA1 Checksums for the base ROM of Mario Kart DS (which you have to get by your own self as sharing ROMs and copyrighted material in general is illegal) and some other HD recording resources. Hopefully they will help!

LEADERBOARDS RE-ORGANIZATION I have cleaned up the leaderboards and changed the categories so that...

If you break the SC rules, your run will only be in the SC category (former PRB category).
If you break the PRB rules, your run will only be in the PRB category (former Non-SC category).
If you don't break any rule, your run will only be in the Non-PRB category.

Reason for this is that runs which fall into the Non-PRB category should be submitted 3 times so that they can appear in all the categories. This is very, very uncomfortable and annoying to do, and it also is a pain for us to verify that the submissions are all the same. As such, I've simply decided that it's better to do this instead. The only disadvantage is that some PRB runs might end up being slower than the same player's Non-PRB run, because maybe they were bad at the time they did their PRB run and now they are a lot stronger but don't want to play in PRB anymore. Hopefully there won't be too many cases of this.
