There is no need for flashes for knife only runs. The only situations that require not using the knife is within the Leon A story. Grenade for the gator and the launcher for the Super Tyrant. Claire B is possible with only the knife. Not sure about Leon B and Claire A since I haven't played those stories yet, but the rules are spot on. Thanks, Soulless!
Can't get the autosplitter to work. I'm trying to run Chris Any%. I downloaded the ASL file, extracted the folder, added that file as a "scriptable autosplitter" in my layout, set all my timing methods to "Game Time". I also downloaded the Chris Any% file, extracted that folded as well, open the splits in LiveSplit and the timer is still not running. I even tried downloading the files again, but still getting the same results. Any suggestions?
Edit: Got it fixed. Just had to run LiveSplit as an admin. Thank you, NyxAvatar for the help!
So I've been trying to figure out the best controller scheme for running this game for myself. Obviously selecting the "Arrange" option is key to avoid being grabbed by zombies. The problem I have with that option is that when the camera angle changes, when I try moving my analog stick to the proper direction, it spins me to some random direction I don't want to go to which is very annoying. So my question is, is there a specific controller scheme to select to fix that, or it's just something I need to get used to, to the specific analog stick movement with the camera angles?
Another problem that might arise from this suggestion. Seems like this’ll only be for PC, correct? If it is, then damn we console runners are unfortunate as hell
I'm new to the RE4 speedrun community and I noticed that when you are submitting a run, it asks to submit a specific time with loads and no loads. I don't understand the terminology of "loads" and "no loads" completely. Can someone help me out here? Thanks!
I recently checked the time differences between the scenes in Not A Hero where Chris gets the mask after Lucas kills his partner. In the Japanese (I assume) version of the game, it is about 8-9 seconds faster than the US version, thus the "in-game timer" is much shorter for the Japanese version vs. the American version. Are we taking this time into consideration, or does the Japanese version have the upper hand in the Not A Hero speedrun?
Thanks for the info. Gonna aim for that console record now!
I have seen runs where the runner has used the retry button. How does that have an impact on the in game timer?
