The best controller for stair skating would be anything that has trigger stops that whenever you press the trigger, it'll stop right when it gets detected. I use the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller and I personally love it. The trigger stops help me plenty and I never had problems with stair skating ever since then. As for controller settings, just make your sensitivity maxed so that your turns will the fastest it can be. The speed will definitely not be close to the speed of a mouse with high DPI, but that is one of the disadvantages for speedrunning on a controller.

Hope this helps.

DUDE WTF. Do you just spam the buttons?

Texas, USANixIssues3 years ago

Can you test that at 120 FPS? I see that you did that at 60 FPS, but I believe it may be easier to do at lower FPS since the trick may be almost a frame perfect input. The higher the frames, the harder it is to pull off.

Hey guys. So I accidentally found a new prison escape for Leon runs. This should save around 1-2 seconds for NG, ~3 seconds for Knife Only, and ~10 seconds for Pistol Only. I explain how to get the line properly to do this strat in the video and explaining the time differences between the categories as well. I have this strat down at about 70% consistent. Just need to get better with the specific line to take. Our runs just got more toxic. EDIT: Forgot to post the VIDEO

I don't know how much slower it is, but it is definitely slower. This goes for most other Resident Evil games as well.

Here are a few things from the top of my head: -Mia boss fights are faster the higher the FPS is. -Enemy movement is different. The routes enemies take will change depending on FPS. -The lower the FPS, you can squeeze in between enemies easier allowing you to save time in certain situations. -You, Ethan, is slower the lower the FPS is (once passed a certain number of FPS, your speed is the same). -Menuing is slower the lower the FPS is (once passed a certain number of FPS, the speed is the same).

Now some peeps could correct me on these things. I may be wrong due to my wording. Hope this helps.

Just uploaded my Inferno Knife Only run. Maybe a category could be made. Some categories only have one run or even no runs, but yet they exist. Just letting y'all know.

You have to switch to the pistol then back to your knife quickly. You have to literally press both buttons almost at the same time after landing the knife attack. It's much tougher to do on controller since you probably need to move your hands in uncomfortable positions to get it done. KB/M is perfect for this trick.

Alright then what should be the title? If not knife only or low%, what should it be? You keep saying it can't be either of them, yet you haven't thrown out a title you think it should be.

Nemmy 4 without using any weapons it takes 7-8 minutes on Standard, Hardcore takes ~12 minutes, Nightmare takes AT LEAST 20 minutes, and I don't even want to talk about Inferno. Not sure if everyone wants to fight Nemmy 4 for that long, especially at higher difficulties where Nemmy is trying to pancake you forever.

Knife only with the regular knife is extremely toxic. Nemmy 2 is about 20 minutes long and Nemmy 3 is about 20 minutes long as well (On Standard). That alone will make the category extremely dead cause no one wants to fight Nemesis for that long. That's why the rules were made exactly what they are for knife only. It keeps the category alive and people running it. As for Nemmy 4 without using any weapons it takes 7-8 minutes on Standard, Hardcore takes ~12 minutes, Nightmare takes AT LEAST 20 minutes, and I don't even want to talk about Inferno. NO ONE WILL RUN THE CATEGORY. Why would you want that? The hot dogger isn't even that crazy of an exploit either for knife only. The boss fights are lowered in time to ~5-7 minute boss fights which are still lengthy and challenging. If the rules were changed to regular knife and no pistol against final Nemmy, knife only is dead.

Sorry for posting this on this thread.

So why was the Knife Only category called Low%? I understand the name came from the use of the pistol for the Nemesis 4 fight, but in RE7 where you have to use the pistol to kill Evie, the category was still called "Knife Only". Now I understand the situation there is different to this game since the pistol isn't required to kill Nemmy 4, but here are other examples. In RE1 Remake, the launcher is required to finish the run, yet the category is called "Knife Only (Low%)". Same goes for RE2 Remake: "Knife Only (Low%)". Now I brought this up for RE2 Remake as well since it was called Low% when the Low% leaderboards opened. After bringing it up and explaining my reasoning, it was changed to Knife Only (Low%). The reason why I'm recommending this AGAIN is because when this happened in RE2R, it was killing the category (including the fact that Knife only in RE2R was on the dead "category extensions" boards but oh well). No one knew where the boards were for knife only, they didn't know what Low% was and how it was connected to knife only. Now that RE3R is announcing Low% as knife only again, it's starting all over again. Constant questions being asked: "What is Low%?", "Why is it called Low%?", "I don't see knife only in the leaderboards?" and so on. It only makes sense to call it "Knife Only" or "Knife Only (Low%)". Knife Only in RE games has been a special run since it was first introduced. No need to kill it for the second game in a row.

"Technically, a WR run in a category of this version of Jack’s 55th could be significantly longer than the last place run since we are only looking at how fast you can get that first shot." <--- I think that is the main reason why it should be changed to an "actual speedrun" run. I think this change would definitely bring in more runners to run this since it's more motivating to find strats to complete getting Jack full ASAP, rather than grind hours just to get the first shot to be a frame to a few frames faster than the other runners.

This change is logical to me, and if it does go through, I'm sorry, ZGL, that all your runs are going to be removed as well as others that ran this DLC.

I recently learned you can stair skate even with the flashlight out, but it's not consistent. I just spam the knife button and I'd get a random stair skate. I'm sure with more time playing with the flashlight and stair skating, we can find something more consistent.

"Play through both 1st and 2nd scenarios of the characters in a single segment."

So does this allow to complete the first run, then you're able to start the second run, but then you reset the second run, complete it and that still counts as single segment? I would assume that would be a failed attempt, thus you would have to run the first story again.

The True Ending category. You mods are killing it. Thanks again!
