Known since 2006 that you can use that side:

Would highly recommend the #gameplay_help channel in the SM64 discord linked above when struggling with a specific star, as well as the RTA guide: https://ukikipedia.net/wiki/RTA_Guide

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J20aivGnvLlAuyRIMMclIFUmrkHXUzgcDmYa31gdtCI/

This spreadsheet contains all of the records for xcam stuff, row 60 in particular contains a '8.63'. xcam timing is not separated by platforms on this sheet and by the community in general, as the IGT runs the same on N64/VC/EMU. The differences in lag and loads are not reflected in xcam IGT.

Would also highly recommend using the discord server, rather than these forums for questions if you are seeking good advice, as a lot of the frequent posters here tend to give misinformation.

You will need an expansion pak to use Usamune practice ROM. @Remytherat999 please don't give advice if you don't know what you are talking about.

You will likely have a lot of input delay when using a modern TV. Would recommend joining the discord and asking these questions to receive better advice than you will on this forum.

final warning that continual spam of the forums to this degree will result in being reported to site staff

(we left the 'hey' thread open for a reason, go post in there, please fucking stop making our lives harder, we didn't sign up to moderate a forum. despite the fact the one of the people spamming above this post made a thread complaining that we don't moderate the forums. so we started moderating the forums in the only way we have time to, and then starts spamming out of protest. please just stop already. one of you has also been temporarily banned before for this by site staff completely unrelated to us as we did not report it, and yet you continue doing it..)

probably wasn't necessary to bump a year old thread with a response of 'i don't know'

You can submit runs done on the PC port at this leaderboard: https://www.speedrun.com/sm64pcport

You can make a savestate on the file select screen, with File A selected before deletion. Load this state and delete the file, and then use the reset function normally. Starting the run from a savestate rather than a reset is not allowed.

Would recommend posting in the #technical_help channel in the Discord that is linked here for SM64 speedrunning, more likely to receive accurate help there

Not sure if there is an available list of embeds that work on this site, would have to ask someone involved with operation of the website. I've seen Asia region runners use niconico and billibilli for example, so it's very likely that there is other (english supported) websites that will work.

People were way more frequently deleting them from a service that has a limited file storage space than ones that don't. It is specifically written in the rules under the video requirements section that videos must embed on the run page. We don't want people to have to jump through extra hoops to be able to watch a run on the leaderboard. We aren't forcing people to use only YouTube and Twitch, we are merely limiting people to use any site that embeds the video player so the run can be watched on the run page.

CanadaKyman8 months ago

It doesn't embed the player on the run page. Also, people in the past would just delete the video off their drives after being accepted.

CanadaKyman8 months ago

You can use any site that embeds the player on the run page.

The Usamune practice ROM cannot be used on switch.

@goldenONX they word for word said that this game has a 'big cheating scene', this is misinformation.

CanadaKyman8 months ago

@SuperGamer64 Yes, that is what I outlined (NTSC-J or NTSC-U console with NTSC versions of the game)

@Plune Yes RGB/HDMI/etc. setups are fine, those have nothing to do with timing or advantages.

@Ultra64 I would recommend not confidently spreading misinformation on subjects that you may not be fully informed on.

No, you must use NTSC-J or NTSC-U console with NTSC versions of the game.

We either leave everything up that isn't against site rules, or lock the forums entirely. No one on the mod team has time, willingness, or incentive to remove all of the off-topic stuff from this forum. The majority of the community converses in the discord, go there if you want to have actual discussions.
