afaik it's possible to modify consoles like snes to have hdmi output, so if you're really desperate for that better quality you could look into that.

Create Game, Window or Display Capture -> if window or display capture, add a "crop" filter on it (right click -> filters...) and crop it down to the area you want to show. (game capture shouldn't have that issue, but is limited to games(duh))

if you don't care for quality, go for the GV-USB2 and let your wiiu output to a/v cables. if you do care about quality, go for an elgato or AVerMedia internal card and let your wiiu output via hdmi.

GV-USB2 comes at ~40$ elgato & AVerMedia cards are spread all over the price tables.

because of how some devs implement scaling. usually, for pictures of landscapes for example, it's better to use Bilinear, Bicubic or Lanczos, so there's no pixelation. While it works for those, it creates the "blur" for low res images / pixelart like icons are, for those they would have to implement point/nextNeighbor scaling. until they do, giving those devices high-res images to display instead of having them resize is the best solution atm.

couldn't you just crop the view so it only shows the wiimote?

The runs aren't lost, even though they can't be restored with a single click. or ask someone with database access to re-attach the runs to the new category.
