Hello everyone

As some of you have noticed, many categories have been revamped in the last few days. Some have been updated, some renamed and some have been removed entirely. These choices were for a number of reasons, some have been dead for years and others have been discontinued due to new rulesets in their respective categories. Reminder that having a leaderboard should not be a factor for running a category, and you can still continue to push these categories if you desire.

We've also revamped the segments for GTA III, Portland now has a more concrete timing to it (ending at Payday For Ray start instead of Last Requests end) and Staunton/Shoreside have been added as well. Be sure to check the respective timings and rules when submitting to those, and we will be treating them as a clean slate from today onwards.

In order to maintain consistency with III/SA and ensure no accidental or intentional NG+ affects runners, the mod team has decided to enforce mandatory game restarts per attempt for all runners going forward regardless of their leaderboard position. We are giving you all a two week grace period (until June 30th) to accommodate. Any runs from July 1st onwards will be rejected if you are not playing from a fresh game boot.

AHK scripts to quickly restart the game in-between attempts (including skipping the Capcom warning message) are allowed as long as they are used before the run begins. Using them to restart the game during the run will make your run illegitimate (this also applies to using them during Mult-Game runs).

TLDR - Mandatory game restarts for everyone beginning July 1st, no previous runs will be affected.

Recently there was a change in rules over on the GTA III boards due to a new glitch that allowed runners to rename a skin in order to gain an advantage in-game. This now creates a problem that skins allow you to gain an advantage using external software (OS). Skins that don't come with the game were then banned, along with MP3 files for the same reason.

This glitch is still present in VC, and while it doesn't give an advantage (that we currently know of) it still presents the issue of using external software to manipulate the game. We are going to take the same route as III in order to prevent any potential abuse in the future. There will be a week-long grace period (from the creation of this post) for you to remove any custom skins, and after this we will start rejecting runs that don't follow the new rules.

All runs that currently use custom skins or MP3 files will not be affected. Only those submitted on/after the 15th May 2020.

TLDR - Starting 15th May, custom skins & MP3 files will be banned. No runs submitted prior will be affected.

Useful tools you can use during runs:

• dinput for fixing your mouse not working in-game
• VC Mouse Fix for fixing y-sens issues, and the game resetting mouse sens every reset
• Use this method for Xbox360 controller support
• Cursor jail to keep the cursor inside the game (useful if you are playing fullscreen)
• Windowers (dxwnd, d3dwindower , 3DAnalyze )
• SKeys or NohBoard for showing keyboard inputs on recordings
• 100% checklist
• GTARadioPlayer
• AutoHotKey (Allowed to create 1:1 rebinds only)

Other useful tools you can use for practice and testing but not during runs:

• Quicksave
• On Mission Flag changer (For III/VC/SA)
• Cheat Engine
• Vehicle Saver

Since the IV segments were pretty dead since their implementation, there were no concrete rules in place. This has been changed to disallow runners skipping missions you would usually do in Any%.

This change will allow the segment categories to reflect their intended purpose.

• First Date requires the completion of Bleed Out
• Uncle Vlad requires the completion of Concrete Jungle
• Roman's Sorrow requires the completion of Search and Delete & Easy as Can Be

This thread will be an archive of people who are banned from GTA game submissions.

As we do not ban people without evidence, such evidence will also be listed here for people to see for themselves.

Each incident will have an individual entry, and the bans are indefinite (not permanent) by default unless specified otherwise. Anyone is welcome to appeal their ban by contacting a moderator.

As you all are aware, recently all of Anti's and Husho's runs were removed from the Vice City leaderboard due to them both confessing to cheating. Anti's situation received a huge amount of attention, including him receiving a lifetime ban from submitting. Husho was overshadowed by all this, but this doesn't mean action won't be taken.

This being said, Husho is no longer welcome to submit any times to this leaderboard.

Hello everyone

As you may have seen, the old moderators of this game either deleted their accounts or have been inactive for several months. For this reason I have taken ownership of the leaderboard for now.

The old rules put in place by the previous mod team were absolutely absurd, and pretty much killed the leaderboard dead. I have revised them to make them much more reasonable. If you previously submitted a run that was taken down due a previous ruleset, please re-submit and I will deal with it accordingly. Treat this as a clean slate for the game.

If you are submitting a run, please re-read the new rules to review the differences and also let me know if you have any feedback. Also bear in mind the separation between PC and Console, this is because of the difference in game versions between platforms.

The new run that's just been approved doesn't have an external timer, which is the entire reason the lb got wiped in the first place. Can the mods make up their minds? You allow half and deny the other whether they follow the rules or not, pretty embarrassing at this point.

Sorry for not making this thread sooner, I wasn't at home pretty much all of yesterday.

The modifications section on speedrun.com isn't exactly easy to reach, and most of the modification boards were made because we didn't have any kind of category extensions. For these reasons, the modification leaderboards have been migrated over to category extensions, this allows runners to find them with ease and have everything in the same place.

Currently the old redundant boards still exist, but this will likely change as they won't serve much purpose anymore.

Due to an increase of submissions from people doing Las Venturas segments as part of an entire any% run, we've decided to change the timing start of this category to Stowaway start rather than loading a save. All runs currently on the lb will be updated to the new timing.

We are aware that some runners do not start LV from Stowaway due to different routes. However there are a lot more people who submit as part of any% compared to runners that do a different route. This is the best option we could think of as of now to cater for the majority.

We won't update anything immediately in case anyone has any better suggestions or feedback about the change. If you do have a better solution feel free to let us know
