Necro'ing old threads will result in these getting locked instantely. Advice: Don't do this.
@Nordanix Done, Thanks for letting me know that game exists. I added moderator @Roxy_Rose to the series moderators as well seeing as this moderator moderates Berserk and the Band of the Hawk. Good luck guys.
Due to the recent approval of "SEGA Marine Fishing" ( https://www.speedrun.com/sega_marine_fishing ), I have created a series: https://www.speedrun.com/segafishingseries and linked both SEGA Bass Fishing and SEGA Marine Fishing to this series as well as added the current moderators as series moderators there.
Due to the approval of Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Seima Senki no Sho (https://www.speedrun.com/Berserk_Millennium_Falcon_Hen_Seima_Senki_no_Sho), the sequel to Sword of the Beserk: Guts' Rage, I have created the Berserk series and added @Naegleria , @Nordanix and @witchakorn (who requested this sequel) as Super Mods to this series.
@xDrHellx On the contrary, I think a message system would be very welcome. Having a single point of internal communication for every user on the website would be very nice. Discord and Twitter and other socials as of right now all serve as alternative contact methods simply because the site currently does not offer such a functionality and I feel these really are also sources that serve more as a reliability rather than a necessity.
Please also realize that a lot of effort in this website is done by dedicated people in their free time during their potentially busy lives. As much as a message system would be welcome, there are topics that require more priority right now such as the things SgtKabukiman listed.
Hey guys,
I thought I would take a little time to write a rather late introduction about myself. So yeah here goes.
As some of you probably noticed, I'm a new full mod on SRC and enthusiastic to help out! You might have seen my name around a lot more past few days as well as more in the future ofcourse but also probably in the past under a different name. I used to go by the nickname "DarK" but due to multiple reasons I very recently decided to change that to something more of my liking.
I have been speedrunning for about 4 years now. I started with Banjo Tooie Any% in 2015 and in 2016 I grew a significant interest in Souls games eventually leading me to picking up Dark Souls III the same year. The following years of being active in "SpeedSouls", the Souls community for speedrunning, I spent a lot of time editing and adding content to the Dark Souls III section of the Wiki of SpeedSouls as well as moderating the leaderboards after we decided to port these to SRC.
The later years my speedrunning interest extended even further leading me to pick up speedruns of DOOM 2016, Bioshock Infinite, Shadow of the Colossus and Unreal Tournament. As of right now I have not been speedrunning much myself lately but with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice coming out in a few days I am very excited on the game is as well as how the speedrun is going to play out and future progression.
If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me. Looking forward talking to you guys and helping out.
@Harutomo Some of the Super moderators seem inactive but there are also ones that have been active in the last 14 days. Have you tried to reach out to these inactive moderators yourself as well and if so, in what way?
@NTRG The moderator has been active in the last 14 days. I only see one run in the queue which was created yesterday. Please allow a period of at least 2 to 3 weeks for your run to get verified. Can you state in what way you have tried to reach out to this moderator except for posting on the forums? This moderator has multiple social media accounts listed on his profile. Did you make an effort in contacting him outside the forums of SRC?
@Retro_gamer This thread is meant for Leaderboards moderation requests. Please post your question on the RE2 Remake forum: https://www.speedrun.com/re2remake/forum
@Horridhenry257 We are aware of these issues. They should hopefully get resolved soon.
Please allow me to explain the differences as there may be some misunderstanding. Also be aware I'm simply giving my opinion on how I see this rule here.
Situation 1: Pausing the game to perform a mechanic that benefits the speedrun you are doing: You are directly using the pause as a mechanic to help your speedrun. Such as changing the graphical options, use it to perform a glitch/skip, use it for anything related to the run you are currently performing. If you pause the game in the situation @CodyLoadee30 pointed it out you are directly using the pause as a mechanic for your speedrun. = good to use pauses this way.
Situation 2: Pausing the game for matters that are totally unrelated of your speedrun: You are pausing to take a break of your run, read chat, let out your dog, talk to your parents, look up strats even? Can a runner not learn strats before you speedrun like @TheLeviathan already pointed out = bad to use pauses this way.
Scenario 2 has absolutely nothing to do with completing a single segment speedrun. If a runner can purposefully pause a single segment speedrun without performing any mechanic, then this rule seems really silly and more of a luxury matter rather than the rule contributing to making a run faster. It directly affects the leaderboards as well because it makes submissions longer in which moderators that have to check those submissions need to spent more time looking for these pauses which in the end those pauses dont even contribute to the run in the first place.
My two cents on this is that a point of discussion should be to not have any pauses at all if a pause is not directly used to perform a certain mechanic or serve a purpose like changing the graphical options.
If a rule like this was enforced to aid streamers who want to take a "break" or to "read chat while streaming" than please be aware you are also directly pausing a single segment speedrun for no real reason which might end up to be really unnecessary since this is enforced without it having anything to do with the speedrun itself. Another argument could be that its also indirectly increasing the time moderators need to spent looking and timing these during reviewing submissions.
@Otterstone_Gamer I will get back to you on this. Keep an eye on Discord.
@yoshifruit Super Mod seems inactive indeed for a long time, no contact info and since your runs have been pending for two weeks: Added.
@ZmickTrick I have send you a whisper on Twitch. Please get back to me there and I'll try and see what I can do.
@Otterstone_Gamer Super mod seems to be active on Twitter which is one of his listed socials. Did you try reaching out to him there? Your run seems to be only pending for one day. Please take some more effort in trying to reach out to him.
@Horridhenry257 There is a community Discord available for this game. I took a look in there and although I could not find any request from you in there, it seems the supermod has been active there very recently. Its only been little over a week since your run and one other run has been pending. Could you please try and reach out to him in there as well?
https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7 is your thread.
Be aware that it will take some time before a Full Mod can take a look at your request.
How decisions are made on leaderboards is always different. Some communities only let active runners participate in rule changes, and other communities handle it differently. To me, there is never a general guideline on how one should make decisions for a leaderboard other then the base standards of rules Liv pointed out. Then there is only the people that care about it. Right now it sounds pretty simple: You reached out to your community, nobody is responding. You want to make a change to the leaderboard for.. I assume the betterment of the leaderboard. Wait a little until its safe to assume nobody is gonna respond to your requests and then make your decision. That way you can never say you blatantly took that decision without worrying about what your community thinks. It might be good to think about how a rule will affect the current list of runs on the board. You would not want to just invalidate any run on there without a really good reason. But do know that those runners and potentially future runners can always come back to you! Its not like any rule is set in stone. They should always remain up for debate by the community that runs it.
I couldn't find a leaderboard for Fear Effect 2. There is one for the first Fear Effect though. You could go there and ask the single runner and moderator if he ever did a run of Fear Effect 2 or if he potentially knows someone who did but never got it uploaded since there is no board for it. https://www.speedrun.com/Fear_Effect
